Oxford, Euglend, To Challenge
Yale and Harvard.
New Haven, Conn., June 7.
Relative to the reported challleng<
from Oxford to Yale and Harvard
Cant. Hickockofthe Yale Athletic
Team, expressed great willingness
today to have Yale participate, bn’
said that all he knew was that t'n
challenge was obtained from news
paper reports
He said that if such a challenge
had been sent tiic chances for a
meet are good. G. P>. K Wad*,
president of the Track Athletic
Association, said he had not re
ceived any challenge. It was in;
possible, he added, to ell whethei
a meet could be arranged, although,
personally, he is in favor of it.
The faculty must be consulted
'and Harvard’s consent is al o nec
essary. Besides this, Oxford might
impose conditions which may not
|be acceptable. If, however, all
these difficulties were removed, he
thought a meet could be arranged.

THE HUSTLER OF ROMt FRIOAY JUNE7 1895
IN POSSESSION.
The Navy Deoartment Receives In
formation from Ecudor
Washington, June 7.—News of
the success of the revolutionists in
Ecudor, came to the war depart
ment today ifi a cab'egram from
( apt. \\ tttson, of the Ranger
which warship is now at Guaya
quil.
The cablegram is dated at Guaya
qvil yesterday and reads as fol
lows- “The insurgents have pos
session of the city. Gov. Gen. Flor
is has resigned. Ignncco Robles, lib
eral, has been proclaimed military
and civil general. Everything is
quiet at present. Communication
with Quito by telegraph is inter
rupted.
The last statement explains why
the state department has heard
nothing of the progress of the re
volution from United States Min
ister Tilman, who should have ar
rived at his post at Quito some
time ago.
Exacudor has been in a turbul
ent state for soma time past and
much dissatisfaction was expressed
by the people generally at the con
duct of the government
This was fomented by the trans
fer of the celebrated Chilian cru
sier Esmeralda from Chili to Ja
pan under cover of the Ecudoriart*
flag early in the spring and since
that event there have been several
revolutionary outbreaks culminat
ing in this last successful attempt
to overthrow the government, for
it is believed here that Guayaquil
and the other principal coast cit
ies have fallen into the hands of
the revolutionist, their comp’ete
success will be only a matter of a
few days.

popular young woman and has
been the belle of her neighbor

Learning that they were going to
