The recent a>rii g in congress of
our national scandal—the pension
list —has brought to notice some
unique features of this great fraud
upon the taxpayers of this coun
try. One interesting phase of 'he
matter is the pension window, or
the widow who married an old
soldier for the expre»s purpose of
getting his pension or for apply
ing for one after he dies.
In the debate last week stress
was laid on growing scandal of
the marriage of veterans by wom
