CAN ALL BUY A PRINCE.
Tukii g for granted that th.
'orthccming biography of the.
Prince of Wales will not go so
deeply into his priva’e life as to
re,nit in the book being barred
from the mails, the Anglomaniacs
of the East probably in for a
rare treat.
The m W work, the only one cf
its kind, teo, says the St. Louis
Republic is going to tell us a lot
about Albert Edwaro’. It will ev n
be bold enough to deal the
baccarat scandal aid the scan*
dal and tbe Layd Brooke episode
and, p 1 rhaps, other similar social
acchievenueuta of England s heir
apparent. And, oh blissful thought
it will tell also of the Piince’s
visit to this cou.itry and of whom
he met here.
Not only this—though who could
sigh for more?—the Life will be
chock full of pictures of the Prince.
We shall see how he looks in the
morning tweeds, in shooting Nor
folk and kinickerb >ckers, in golf
flannels in yachting duck and
serge, in countless uniforms, in
sober t Veiling clothes, perhaps
even in pajamas . We’ll have an
illustrated lexicon of the Prince
of D’-essers as well as ol the Prince

The Cochran Telegram con fa'ns
he following strong endorsement
of Hon O. B. Stevens for Com
missioner of Agriculture:
“ I he above named gentleman is a
candidate for commissioner of
agriculture It is true that he has
not made any official announce
ment to that effect, yet at the
same tune, his friends have given
it out. and he is only waiting for
in opportune time to make his
innouncement. We have favored
Mr. Stevens all along, and should
he decide to run we will, to the
best or < ur ability to support him.
There is no questiiu about his
fitness for position. He would
make a model commissioner. He is
peculiarly fitted for the position.
He is a practical farmer and has
worked himself from a day hand
to the present standard. 1U began
life with comparatively nothing,
and while he is not new a rich
man, he is comfortably fixed in
the way of the world’s g ods, and
has made what he has from the
no.L He is a man of liri'-iant
attainments, Ht is the man for
he place and we do not think
ihat the people and especi°lly the
farmers, would do wrong if they
elected him. ”
Every new ipaper that attempts
<> be non-committal invariably
v iuds up an editorial on the
gubernatorial situation with the
ambiguous remark, “We shall see
what we shall see.” To a man up
a tree it looks like they are already
seeing what they shall see. They,
are seeing Allen Candler elected

much ease as couid be desired, ob

Work Day And Night,
Wilmington, DM., Jan 24.—1 t
beeonifcp known here this after
noon that the famous powder firm
of Dupont De Nem rous, whose
works are located on the Brandy
wine, near 'hiscity, today received
an order from Secretary of th >
Navy Long, calling forJIO.OOO.OOO
pounds of smokeless powder.
The Duponts have for more
than a year been supylying the
Government with powder, but to
day's oilier is ths biggest ever
se tto it. The powder mills have
been very busy lecently, tnd in
view of today’s order an extra
force was put to work last night.
The greatest secrecy is main- '
tained by the officers of the pow
der company concerning the ord r
and they decline to discuss it.
With the improved ai.d enlarged
facilties jf the big Dupont mills,
and order, though immense, can
be filled in a very few weeks. The
news of the receipt Gs the ord r by
the Duponts caused a big fiuray
in local financial circles, in view
of the departure of the battleship
Maine for Cuba.

Bottled Up!
I
Whether in the form of pill powdei
or liquid, the doctor's prescription foi
blood diseases is always the same—
mercury or potash. These drugs bottle
up the poison and dry it up in the
system, but they also dry up the marrow
tn the bones at the same time.
The suppleness and elasticity of the
joints give way to a stiffness, the rack
ing pains of rheumatism. The form
gradually bends, the bones ache, while
decrepitude and helplessness prema
turely take possession of the body, and
I it is but a short step to a pair ol
crutches. Then comes falling ol
