IN INNOVATION
F AIR GIRLS ACT A S USH E R o
Al’ CHURCH.
YOUNG MEN FILL PfWS
I
And Later on Fill the Contri-
bution Boxes.
Washington, Del. Jan. 27. —
An innovation was sprung by pas
te r George R. Wolfe, in the Meth
od st Protestant church in this
city Nat evening. Hs had pretty
young women as ushers and pass
ers of the collec ion plates, in
square ot four each.
Nows of the plan got noised
abroad, and young men who bad
been neglectful of their church du
ties swarmed around the door of
the edifice to see if it were sd, and
there were soon many < f them in
the congregation.
Then, when the collection was
take:; by the young wome i, quar
ters and dimes droppsd freely into
the p'ate instead of pennies and
nickels. Pastor Wolfe is delighted
with the change, saying that the
congregation was much larger and
the young wom°n doubled the
collection. The plan will continue
permanently.
One of ihe women said today:
“The plan is simply to increase
the interest in church work and
bring young men into the fold. ”
