Boys, Work.
A young man who prefers
loafiing upon the street to work
ing for a little less than what he
thinks his labor is worth, or is
extremely anxious to find an easy
place, seldom ever accomplishes
much. The brightest examples
of suceess in the businessor in
tellectual world today are those
who began under adverse cir
cumstances. The boy who acts
upon_the princple that he will
onlydo pleasant work, and that
only at his price, rarely ever
does anything. He will dead
beat his way through on relatives
or the public. ' |
Stand up to the rack, young
man and vou will find fodder in
it. Put on your working harness
early in the morning, wet your
teet with dew and see that you
keoep at work. Don’t wait fora
job yoy want, but grasp the
nearest chance. If you can’t
get SSO a month take $25, take
$lO, take anything that you can
get until you can do better, if it
only be board. But work, for
the world is watching you. The
farmer, the merchant, the busi
ness men are watching for hon
est, willing workers. Don’t shirk,
the world will know it, don’t take
on bad habits, they will putand
kkeep you down, don’t get an ap-—
petite for office, it will lay you in
the potter’s field, don’t play the
bully or train for a prize fighter,
in the economy of God’suniverse
there is no demand for the bull
dog. Aboveall, don’t try to get
something for nothng—the road
leads to the penitentiary. There
is a job, a good living, a happy,
contented life for every healthy,
able bodied bright young man
who says, ‘I will,” and hus
tles.

An ignorant man is bad
enough to get along with, buta
conceited oneis worse, and the
man who combines the two in his
makeup is insufferable.
Domestic troubles would be
fewer and sooner overcome if
they were not told to neighbors.
Nothing is more disastrous to
the home life than telling every
grievance to others.
To talk without saying sorpe
thing worth hearing is like play
ing at random upon a stringed
instrument. There is plenty of
wibration and noise but no
‘melcdy. . : 3
Oftentimes contentment but is
anothername for lazines. . He who
is willing to live a shiftless unam
bitious life from day to'day is not
really contented. What he mis
takes for that quality is nothing
more than a lack of force and
ambition. The really contented
man is he who while without com
plaint yet seeks to advance and
better his condition. @ .
