Judge Henry Cock, Our
Ordinary.
" We want to state right at the
beginning of this article, that we
honestly believe, that Jeff Davis
county ¢an boast of having
as competent, economical and
pepular Ordinary—in the person
of Judge Henry Cook—as any
other county in the state.
¥He was bornand reared about
fifteen miles south of Hazlehurst,
then Appling county, and has
spent his entire life-in and
around this place. He has been
Ordinary ever since the forma
tion of the county, and there is
no one who doubts but what he
has made a good one. He looks
as closely after the affairs of the
county as he does after his own
individual affairs. ;
He owns a splendid plantation
three miles west of town, and has
the reputation of raising the
lirgest and sweetest watermel
ons raised in the county. Heis
a very successful farmer. Be
sides, he 1s at the head of the
mercantile firm of . Cook &
Son, of this place.
¥ You might ask the question ?
How can Judge Cook find the
time to give any attention to his
ofticial duties, when be is engag
ed ih so many other different
kinds of business?
He devotes every moment of
his time to his office duties. He
is in his, office every duy
in the week, hard at worlk. Me.
R. A. Cook, his son, manages the
store, and he has competent
managers on his farm.
i Judge Cook is a good man—no
better in Wiregrass Georgia.
_He is as kind and gentle as a
woman, with a ready smile for
the happy and a ready hand for
the unfortunate. He has ever
evinced the best of judgement in
the mghagement of our county
an‘gigs. “His friends throughogt
