Play Ball,

The Baxley tgam will come up
Friday afternoon and will play
our club a double-header. Come
out and witness this game, and
thereby encourage our boys by
your presence.
But aint it lucky we have a
cabbage patch? The cubbage
thief left us about one half, and
from early in the morning until
up toloand 11 o’clock, people
from all parts of town can be
seen leaving our patch with
from one to threec head. We
sell them strictly at five cen'ts"
per head, and furnish a wiitten
guarantee that there is no snakes
in ’em. Since the dull season
has se: in and job work slacken
and the ads. began to drop out.
we have depended scley upon
this cabbage patch to run the
office and pay our grocery bill.
Some how or other, the Lord
does provide. ‘
Oh, they had' a jolly time, a

Well, to make a long story short
the game stood 7 to 14 in favor

There was a good sprinkling of

game, and they say it was equal

4 Knpew His Limitations. ~
“T proph'sied lLe'd make a living”
My. Hobart said, speaking of a New
York painter who spent § summer at
his farm, “because he knew what he
could do, little as 'twas, gnd didn’t try
to fiy too high.
“Yes,” Mr, Hobart continued, with a
thoughtful smile, “you couldn’t get
him to attempt any foolish flights,
All that summer he set out in the hen,
yard, painting hens, or else out back
o’ the barn, painting pigs. And when
1 said to him, ‘Look a-here, when Abe
Fowler comes to paint the house I'l
get him to show you how and let you
take a hack at the side end, where
'twon’t show so much and allow it on
your board,’ he just shook. his head.
and smiled that kird o’ gentle, sorrow
ful smile o’ his, and says he: ‘Lcouldn’t
think of it, Mr. Hobart, I should just
rutn the looks o' the house. TIl keep.
to the pigs and the hens, for I know
my limitations.’
“Well, 'twas a real relief to me, for
I suppose likely he would have botch
ed the job consid’able. And I said to
bim then real hearty, ‘Young man,
you'll earn your living yet, for you
ain't all et up with pride and ambl
tion,' and my words have come triie,
by what I hear.”—Youth’s Companion.
