b We have lately been informed
that Dr. S. W. Johnson, of our city
s -eonsidering seriously the matter
of becoming a candidate for Prison
Commissioner. We rtated thru the
Nhws last issue that our friend W.
R. Frier, of Donglas, was also con
sidering this matter too. We wish
to say that we think it wonld be
best for Dl. Johoson to enten the
race, he is a more experienced raan,
both in years and business, and will
no doubt make Georgii an excelent
Prison. Commissioner.
; He is one of the most highly res.
pected citizens of Jeff Davis eounty
land 1s a wide awake public spirited
man. stands for the improvement of
publtc affais. There is not & blot
in Dr. Johnson's character, he is
respected by old and young, and
iz would be our honest desire to see
him elected.

carry South Ga., and will get a
strong vote in Middleand North,Ga
