A Word Te The Dries
Run your eye over the list of
those who ‘are sctive for Al
Bmith in his campuign for elee
tion as President of the United
States. And then ask yourself
if they could support him if they
were not assured that he was
going to do what he could to see
that all the laws of this country
are adequately and uniformly
enfoaced. :
Listen to this from The
Dothan, Ala., Eagle:
Can a dry bolter be any dryer
than Mr. Sheppard, of Texas,
‘who wrote the Eighteenth
‘Amendment?
Can a dry bolter be any dryer
than Senator Carter Glass, who
wrote the dry plank in the
Democratic piatform at Hous
ton?
Can a dry boiter be any dryer
then Josephus Daniels ed

These men have been lifé-long
prohibitionists and life-long
Democrats.
Each is supporting the Demo
cratic nominee.
As a matter of fact, the
Democratic statesmen and law
makers and others who have
been ardent in their determi
nation to see that this country
is dry are not deserting the
party which has done so much
—and kept se much undone—as
has the national Democracy be
cause somebody has made an
igsue of the liquor question.
