A horned toad thirty-one
years old has been pumped from‘
the stomach of Lase Whittler,
editor Oak Holler Bee. After
careful investigatin, measure
ments and markins, Sal Sodie

Texas. We allus knew there
was something wrong with the
editor of our odious contemp
tuary—and we aint quit thinkin
that way either. ,
With a blarin of trumpets an
a thumpin of drums, with a
torchlight percession augmented
by Toot Wright,s Calithumpian
Band, the official presidential
campaign opened here last night
with Marshall Tihk Doolittle
headin the ticket. Tink did
some tall speechin, flayin the
world in general and this com
munity in particular fer its lack
of activities, and promisin if
elected to repeal the curfew
ordnance and appoint a weather
man what knows more about
gunshine than rain and mud.
After reading a copy of the
Trib, an eastern contemp re
marks: ‘‘lt achieves detachment
without frigidity, mental com
plication without an insistent
cerebralism, the adequate de
piction of moral struggle with
out any appearance of manu
facture, 3he final abandonment
of the biographic outline without
what had foidmerly seemed the
jnevitable subsidedce into a
short story technique, and the
successful employment of the
new resources of the newer
psychology without any of the
obscurantism that had seemed
boand to accompany any literary
‘exploitation of the subconscious
igg of behavior. To formu

say that itis at once/sophisti

we aint no dictionary, we aint
looked up this readin, but were
presumin like twas what the

lose what is rightfully yours by
not asking for it. Last week
iThe News carried a page and
!half page advertisement for the
Black and White Store an
