City Marshal H. C. McLoon
captured Bill Parks, a young
white man, who escajred from
the Gwinette county chain gang
thirteen months ogo. Parks
was convicted for murder in
1925 and sentenced to life. It
js said that this makes seven
times he ta. esc4ped since he
was convicted, bemng captured
each time. This time, however,
he Jed the officers a merry chase,
eluding them for over a year.
Chief McLoon laid his plans and
arrested ? Snnda; 2t the
home of "his (Parks’) sister,i
three miles from Hazlehurst.
It is stated that a fifty dolisr
reward was offered for his ar
rest, Parks isonly 23 years of
age, boing only 19' when he
faced a jwmy charged with
murder.

Aunt Annie Altman lived to
be nearly 84 years old and until
recent months enjoyed good
health. Ducing her illness she
remained cheerful and frequent
said that she was ready to go
when called by her Heavenly
Father.

ters, Mrs. S. L. Deen, of Alma
and Mrs. D. F. Miles, of Hazle
hurst, and by three sons, R. S.
Altman, J. L. Altman and J.
W. Altman, all of Bacon county,
besides several grandchildren.—
