In Memory
Tuesday morning, November
5, 1929, at 8:30 o’clock, the
angel of death made a visit to'
the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.
R. Lambert and took from us‘
our dear husband and father,‘
who was 56 years old. |
It was so sad to give him up
but we know he was ready and
willing to go. He had been
married twenty-nine years. He
is survived by his wife and ten
children. Rev. Ellis condueted
the funeral services and his
body was laid to rest in the
Denton cemetery,
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we love is still,
A place is vacant in our home
That never will be filled.
Father was loving, good and
kind, 2
And we miss his dear 'face,
We must follow close behind
To meet him in a better place.
AVe thank the community for
their kindness.
Gladys Lambert.

Robbery and Arson
~ Mr. T. M. Linder-offered a re
ward of one hundred dollars for
proof to convict the party or par
ties guilty of robbing and burn
ing his commissary. Mr. Lin
ton Kirkladd, of West Green,
also wants to know who robbed
his commissary, and other stores
have been robhed here of late.
The Sheriff’s force got busy and
arrested two white men, one
giving bond and the other going
to jail. Deputy Yarbrough inti
mated that there would be .at
least two or three more arrests
in connection with this case by
the time court convenes.
Some of the stolen goods were
found in possession of one of the
men arrested, it is stated,

Methodist Pastor
Expose Church
~ In Politics
- Washington, Ga.—Dr. Remb
ert G. Smith, pastor of the First
Methodist church here, whose
memorial to the North Georgia
Methodist conference recently
gave rise to heated debate, has
announced that he will shortly
publish a book under the title,
““A Protestanit Church In Poli

Dr. Smith said the book will
set forth what happened in the
Methodist Episcopal church

ons of other important current
issues, he said.
Dr. Smith’s memorial to the
conference sought to bar the
church beard of temperence and
social service from participation
in politics. In his statement is
sued after the conference he
charged that parliamentary ruls
had been violated and one law
of the church broken by Bishop
Beauchamp, presiding officer, to
&prevent discussion of his me
morial on the conference floor.
In announcing his book, Dr.
Smith predicted that continued
association between the Method
ist church and party politics
would bring about the church’s
“atter ruin” and said that the
“most powerful lobby at the
Methoeist general conference in
Dallas next May will be emissa
ries of the Republican party.”’
