20 minutes for breakfast, and grasp

friends. among whom was the editor
ol The Banner, Mr. W. L. Whitfield.
The next place that we were most
interested in was O'Brien, oar desti
nation, which place we arrived at
about 10 a. m. We spent Saturday
and Saturday night there with rela
tives. Sunday morning we drove
over to Mayo, Lafayette county, h
distance ot 17 miles, reaching there
at noon.
Mayo is a thriving little town of
about 2<»0 inhabitants. The citi7.en8
are enthusiastic over the Mayo-West

no doubt the verdict will be in favor
of Mayo—just as it ought to be.
They have a flourishing school, nn

Williams; and several general stores,

parsonage and church, a steam saw
mill, blacksmith and wood-hop, a
weekly newspaper, a masonic hall,

people we ever saw. Among
those we had the pleasure ot meeting
wore Col. (Jeo \V. Brcare, the lead
ing lawyer of tliut, pluco, L. L. Rjin
sey, editor and proprietor, ot the

J. Steward, W. T. Clarke and C 11.

O'Hrien is not tvs flourishing as it

a determined effort to succeed.
