Roseante is Dead.
The death summons came Tuesday
and deprived Mr. Jeff Darling of
Roseante, his laundry horse. Roses
ante was saw! to have been 33 real’s
old, and has performed an innumcra
ble amount of valuable service. In
the loss of Roseante Jeff is out consid
nbly and the vacancy no doubt will
be hard to fill, especially with auoth
er one just like Roseante.
‘•Poor Roseanle is dead and gone,
Fell death - h»s closet! his eyes;
Sweet was his neighing song,
But now io death he lies.
Once he was happy in this town,
Going from street to street,
Sweetly he sported in the breeze
But oh ! where is he now ?
Poor old Roseanle, I’ll never forget
The drives I’ve had with thee.
Dear old horse, I love you vet,
Although you’re dead and free.
Yes, there is freedom in the grave
Where all the bones will rot.
There to enrich the pears
That Joseph Harper has got.

Remedy For Diphtheria
We have been furnished with the fol

“In the revolutionary war the putrid
sore throat prevailed in the army
very fatally until a French or Ger

when every ease recovered His
treatment consisted of a gurgle made
us follows;
Suniack bark, or berries, elm bark
high black-berry root, equal parts,
black snake root half part and make
a strong decoction by boiling well,
strain and sweeten with honey, add
a small lump ot alum.
Frequently apply to the throat and
