Uuited Confederate Veterans,
New Orleans, La . Alar. 25, '95.
To (lie Editor ol The Times,
Blackshear, Ga.
My Dear Sir:
General J. B. Gordon, command
ing United Confederate Veterans,
respectfully requests that you will
aid the old veterans, through l he
columns ol your influential paper, in
their etforts to organize Camps before
the great Reunion, to be held at
Houston, Texas, on the 22nd, 23rd,
and 24th ol May next, so they can
have repiesentation at that meeting
where business of the greatest im
pot lance lor their welfare will be
transacted, and so as to unite them
all in one general federation, under
the Constitution ol the United Coti
federate Veterans, which is a strictly
“literary, historical social and be
nevolent” Associa l ion.
Will you kindly publish this letter
for information of ihe veterans, and
write an editorial reciting the objects
ol the association and urging all the
veterans to meet without delay and
organize camps, and send to these
headquarters for all necessary papers.
I favor formation of several camps
in a county, so the members can
he near headquarters, they will bo
more apt to attend meetings, and will
take more active interest, from 15 to
25 members will lie sufficient to form
a camp, if more cannot be enrolled
close to the headquarters of the camp.
The General Commanding urges
the veterans everywhere to meet and
organize camps as rapidly as possi
ble, so that they can participate and
have representation in the great
Houston Reunion. Please organize
without delay, and write to General
Geo. Moorman, Adjutant General U.
C. Vs., New Orleans, for necessary
papers.

association, Following is summary

derived from cotton seed meal and
