What a Reporter of The

RICHMOND’S BUSINESS COLLEGE
[Prom The Evening Press ]
Richmond’s Business College is
Georgia What, Kastman,
eer, Williams and Rogers, and
Packard are to New York.
At a recent visit to Richmond’s
Business College we were shown
through the different departments
by President C. S. Richmond, who]
wished us to see the students at
their every day work in the va- j
rious class rooms and business of-j
(ices. We were somewhat surpris
ed at the interest taken in the
work by the 14fl students of the ,
(
institution; in fact, wo did
know it was possible for a school
to ho thoroughly instruct students
in t he lit tle details so essential in
business offices; for instance, nil
the students in the business de
pnrtmnnt arc supplied with a let
ter press hook, in which a record
of their daily correspondence is
shown; the college post-office,
which issues money orders,
stamps, etc., distributing the
mail of the studeuts to those en
gaged in the business practice and
letter writing classes ; the whole
sale house, commission, real es
tate, insurance, college bank, rail
road and express offices, all as
busy and ns earnestly engaged in
their work as the employes of any
I'usiness house on the Bay. Home
wore tiling letters and invoices,
while others were engaged in mak
ing mimeographs, hectograph,
and kiogrnph copies from pen and
type written manuscript, deposit
ing cash, cheeks and drafts in the
bank; discounting notes, shipping
goods, making out way hills,
freight and dray receipts, We
felt sure this work could not he so
thorough in its details unless the
instructor had acquired the actu
al knowledge by personal experi
ence, which Professor Richmond
informed us he had done in some
of the largest corporations and
manufacturing concerns in the
north, thus explaining the techni
cal office work of tlie school.
As an illustration of the de
maud for the graduates of the
college, lu- has a standing order
from two of the large railroad cor
porations centering in Savannah
for bright, energetic young men
that have satisfactorily finished
the course of study and who have
shown their ability in the man
agement of the college offices
trusted to their cure to he worthy
of recommendation, lie had two
telephone calls for office
while we were in his office,
he informed us. he w as unable to
mi out of the i it* pupils in the
college. He also stated that the
majority of the students found po
sition* before half finishing
course iti the college.

the professor, “hut what we

There is no doubt but that

bus probably done more for the
orphan and the widow, and young
men and women willing and anx

oping and fitting them for busi
ness, than any other institution
of its kind in the entire south.
The gradilutes are now to he found
in every leading business house
and counting room in Savannah,
and, in fact, all over Georgia,
Florida, North and South Caroli
