Capital Notes.
The public schools in Atlanta hove
vacation this week and all the children
are jubilant. Picnics, fun and frolic is
the order of the day.
The African Methodist Conference
continues in full blast, and the scent
thereof is like unto a spring zephyr steal
ing o’er a bed of violets. Amoug the
most celebrated doctors Jof divinity is
the well known colored orator nnd states
man, Rev. H. M. Turner, D. D. L. L. D
Foster Blodgett is running the Mor
ton influence in the Republican state con
vention and Conley is for Blaine. J. £.
Bryant is figuring very extensively as
one of the “end men” of the concern.
The Constitution says that Georgia
now ranks as ninth in magnitude among
the states of the Union as a manufactu
rer of cotton goods.
The heavy editorial department of the
Constitution yesterday gave its space
mostly to the publication of Supreme
court reports. There is such a remarka
ble similarity in the style, vigor and
liveliness between the latter aud the for
mer, thai few readers will feel any dis
appointment ai this.
Chas. and Ed Kelly iiaVen't engaged
DeGives Opera House.
Felix Corput, the great fish and ice
man of Macon, has located in Atlanta,
that being, in his opinion, the most fishy
locality.
The radicals of the fifth district held
their congressional convention on Tues
day last in Austell’s Hall in Atlanta. S.
A. Darnall was elected president of the
convention. D. A. Spenoer was chosen
secretary. The attending delegates were
of the usual stripe, consisting almost en
tirely of U. 8. officials, pimps, informers,
&c. There was no representative from
Pike, Spalding, Milton, Crawford, and
DeKalb* The body adjourned until af
ter the state convention without making
choice. The indications are that Hon.
Wm. Markham will bo the lanb to be
sacrificed.
Hon. Milton Candler is a sheep grow
er, and the Constitution says he now has
twenty-nine fine lambs. Milt, was once
a lamb himself, but he has now attained
full growth.
The “Hell’s Heros” department of the
Constitution was wofully deficient yester
day. It covered a Chicago case of mur
der and suicide, a suicide in Philadelphia
and “everything quiet” in Cleveland,
Ohio. We must have something better
than this if has to be manufactured at
home.
The “loil” convention is now in full
blast in Atlanta, with Col, 0. H. Prince,
of Augusta, as permanent chairman, and
the usual routine list of secretaries.
Prince is the postmaster of Augusta, a
clever, red-mouthed Yankee as ever came
over from the land of steady habits to
civilize the benighted South. Prince is
not a fanatic in any sense of the word,
he runs radical politics purely as a busi
ness transaction, and traffics on the nig
ger vote with the audacity of a Wall
street operator in stocks. He has been
very successful since he came to Georgia.
He was first in the Freedman’s Bureau
Department, afterwards in the Constitu
tional Convention, and then into the Au-
gusta Post Office. He is one of the car
pet-hag clan, that always secured the
confidence of the negroes, without mix
ing with them, keeps peace with the
scalawags by soft-sordering them, and
gets along with the Democrats very well
by his easy manners and conservative
course. Prince is not a bad man. He
was a good selection.
It now believed in Atlanta that the
Rev. Kendrick was insane, and much
sympathy is extended him. It may be
true, aud it is probably best to keep him
confiued, or else keep the fast girls con
fined.
Mr. W. D. Appier has been appointed
general ticket agent of the Western & A.
R, R., thus relieving Mr. B. W. Wrenu
of a portion of his arduous duties as pas
senger agent. Mr. Wrenn is admitted
to be the most skillful passenger agent
in the South. By his combinations and
manipulations, he has doue more for the
advancement of the passenger business
of the W. & A. R. R. Cos. than any man
connected with the corporation.
There ii nothing thrilling to report
from the Black Methodists Conference in
Atlanta. But of course they will go
through the usual programme of their
white examples, and do up the business
according to the dis-etp line. They have
already commenced a little row about
their "book concern,” in imitation of the
famous old book-concern quarrel and
law-suits between the Northern and
Southern Methodists, w r ich lasted many
years, gave lawyers rich fees and in
volved a property of nearly a million dol
lars.
We are rejoiced to know that the libel
suit of the late Atlantr Herald against
the Georgia Grange has been withdrawn,
and the Grange can now proceed to slan
der somebody else with impunity.

Took the agency for its sale last April, four months a>jo, and have sold thirteen gross, or 1,872 bottles, up to
this date, August 20, 1872, and expect from the growing demand to Jnell ten thousand bottles in the next
year. Gentlemen, if you think this worth using you can do so; as fi am generally known over three eountie*
as a man of great affliction, Yours respectfully, ) 11. J. DARLING.
A. R emedy For Hard Times. Try It.
FOR THI£ GREAT REMEDY WE WISH YOU TO ACT AS OUR AGEKT.
Dear Sim: —Tho above fully explains the articles we wish to sell. This business is honorable, and by being
energetic wifi pay you well. It is our desire to appoint an agent in every county in all parts of the IHiitod
States and Canada, granting to each tho exclusive right to sell every bottle sold in the county, should you
accept the agency for oue or more counties, you shall have the exclusive right to sell every* bottle sold in
your county, as long as you continue to act as our agent, ami all orders which we may receive from your ter
ritory shall be turned over to your account.
This Wonderful Remedy, Seven Seals or Golden Wonder, sells rapidly in the hands of the right kind of
men, and wo want none other. Now, if you think you are the man for the work, forward your order, namo
your county, and go to work; you can sell a gross in a few days without a doubt. We have one man who
buys on an average three gross per week, aud his orders are increasing rapidly, and he has a small county
(Berks Cos., Pa). He writes that he expects to sod one gross per day, at retail, tho coming season, not count
ing wholesale. You have the privilege of selling wholesale or retail, or putting it on commission with drug
gists. or selling by sub-agenets. This business is worth the tteution of good men and men of capital.
Should you make reasonable wages—say SIOO per month for tlm first three mouths (many make more)—you
would nevertheless be establishing a business that would pay you well in tho end.
Agents arc oing better with our Remedy than anything else they ever took hold of. Why is this ? Be
cause the Remedy does just as wo say, and our agents can warrant every bottle. No cure, no pay. K nowing
that we make all losses e'od, should they be called on to redeem a bottle, agents run no risk of loss.
SEVEN SEALS or GOLDEN WONDER is put up in sl.on aud 50 cents bottles, elegantly finished in neat
and appropriate wrappers, and packed iu nice boxes, ono dozen in each box.
To druggists our scale of prices aro—Large size, SI.OO bottles, per dozen, $0.00; small size, 50 emit bottle*,
