hi* chin, said, “ Had we a hollored, h-h-hurraw for H. Kobb, you would'nt a wh-whipped us so.” Instantly the heels of the little fellow flew up, and Senor was “ into him again,” for his inso lence- “Go it boys while you're young,” Quirky. —Hew many of these boys trill be Union men * Ramrod, “Hangsboro.” (communicated.) Messrs. Editors: In the Communication which appeared in your paper of the 14th inst., over the signature of “ Curtius,” there are several errors which I beg leave to correct. In the second paragraph you have, “in var nished falsehood bright.” It should have been ** in burnished falsehood, &c.” In the beginning of the sixth I find this: “ You attempted to make the people there (at Dalton) believe, that in adopting the Virginia resolutions, announcing resistance to any one of those distinct act.” I should have been, ** to any one of three distinct acts.” In the seventh, about 35 lines from the be ginning, the following passage occurs: “You said at Calhoun that hundreds of fugitive slaves have been recovered under this law! I have not a particle of doubt that this is utterly untrue ? and deiy you, or any of your party to produce the proof. You would have done so gladly, if you could. But you offer it note .” It should have been, “ but you offered none.’’ In speaking of the suppressed letter you make me say : “ Is it in one bundle of concentrated sweets> or is it diffused throughout every part of that voluminous nebulosity? You have not indicated its position in that of its disjointed members by the use of inserted commas.” It should have been : “You have not indicated its position, or that of its disjointed members, by the use of in verted commas.” A little further on you have “ So/en ” for “ So/on.” There are some other errors of less consequence. Please insert this, byway of cor recting these which I regard as most material. Curtius. Our Railroad. The Atlanta and LaGrange Rail Road is now in successful operation from Atlanta to this place, the cars, all well freighted each way, arriving and departing daily. It is the design of the Com pany to push forward the work to its completion to West Point, with all possible despatch. Too much praise cannot be awarded to the men to whom has been entrusted the management and construction of the Road thus far. With the same energy and industry for the future, as they have manifested in the past, it will not be eighteen months before the Road is completed and in successful operation from point to point. —Neuman Banner, 19 th inst. Fatal Casualty. On Thursday afternoon, 11th inst. while Mr. Elijah Corley, the Tax Collector of this County, was on his return home from a public gathering in the lower part of the county, his horse took fright, run away, and dashed him out of the bug gy in which he was riding, injuring him so se verely. al>out the head and other parts of the liody, that he died about oue o'clock the next morning. We understand that he was driving at the time of the fatal occurrence, a horse for which he had just traded or swapped, a few mo ments before, and was perhaps, unacquainted with the dangerous tricks of the animal—an ignorance of which, no doubt, cost him his life. Mr. Corley was an upright, honest man—and in his death the county has lost a most prompt and efficient officer—his neighbors, a kind, social, and obliging companion and friend—and his be reaved family,an affectionate husband and father. —lb.
