pool dates to the 23d tilt. The ordinary qualities
of Cotton had declined id. Middling was a shade
lower. The sales of the week were 37,000 bales.
Spectators took 11,000 and Exporters 5040
bales. Fair Mobile 5Jd, Orleans 6d.
Flour unchanged and at a fair request. Corn
had advanced 6d. The trade at Manchester
was less active. Consols' for money 95 J, for
account 96i. The bullion in the Bank of Eng
land had increased.

Cotton.—The market is unenanged. Sales
to-day 930 kales at 8 \o 9 J cents.
New York, Sept. 30.
Cotton.—Sales 1000 bales. Middling Up

COTTON.—There hau been a good demand for Cotton
thitf week, and the favorable advices from Liverpool has
caused an advance in this market of \ a § cent on the
prioes paid last Wednesday. The receipts are light for
the season of the year, and the greater portion of that
arriving is sold from ofT wagons. There is very little
fair Cotton offering. We now quote

GROCERIES.—Our merchants have now on hand
good Stocks. The business of the past week has boon
limited, and confined mostly to supplying small country
orders. Our quotations will give a correct idea of pri
ces.
BACON.—The stock on hand is light, but sufficient
to meet the demand. We have no change to notice this
week in prices, which continue 12J to 13 cents for good
sides—most holders firm at the latter price.
LARD.—The stock of Lard is on the increase and
prices have given way. We now quote 12 al3 cents.
BAGGING.—There is but little enquiry for this arti
cle, and prices are lower. We quote Gunny at 14 £a 15
from stores by the bale or bolt.
WHEAT.-—Prime White is scarce and in demand at
$1,25 per bushel; good new Red sl.
CORN.—There is but a limited demand, and prices
have a downward tendency. We quote 80 aBS for feed,
and 90 a 95 for good White, suitable for grinding.
COFFEE.—Stock on hand good. We quote Rio at 9$
a 10 cents.
FLOUR —There is a good demand for this article, and
our City Mills are kept busy. We quote superfine at
a 6, and Extra Family Flour at $7 a 8 per bbl.
STOCKS. —We have heard of no sale within the past
two or three weeks, of any description of Bank Stock.
EXCHANGE. —We have no change to notice in the
rates for Northern Exchange, which continue at A per
cent. prem. for Sight Checks on New-York and othe r
Northern cities. On Charleston and Savannah our
Banks are drawing at par.
FREIGHTS.—Our river is low. We have no change
to notice in rates, which continue at 50 cents per bale
for Cotton to Savannah and Charleston. Very little
down freight offering.
