is a good supply of Northern and country on hand, but
the demand for these description is limited.
DOMESTIC SPIRITS.—SuppIy moderate, but suffi

this week of 100 bbls. at prices under our lowest quo
tat ion.
STOCKS.—We have heard of no sale within the past
, w 0 or three weeks, of any description of Bank Stock.
EXCHANGE —We have no change to notice in the I
rates for Northern Exchange, which continue at i per
cent. prem. for Sight Checks on New-Tork and other
Northern cities. On Charleston and Savannah our
Banks are drawing at par.
FREIGHTS. —Our river is low. We have no change
to notice in rates, which continue at 50 cents per bale
for Cotton to Savannah and Charleston. Very little
down freight offering.
SAVANNAH. Oct. 14.— Cotton. —The market still con
tinues languid, and prices very much depressed. The
sales yesterday were limited to 102 bales, at 7 J and 8
cents.
[PEP STEAMER ASIA.]
LIVERPOOL. Sept. 26.—We have no material change
to notice in our Cotton Market since the departure of
the last steamer. The demand throughout the week
has been to a fair extent, the sales reaching 39,366 bales,
of which speculators has taken 3580 and exporters 9790
bales, the market being well supplied at last week's
prices, whiLst in the lower descriptions the turn has i
rather been in favor of buyers, though not of so decided j
a character, as to cause a change in our quotations
which we repeat. Fair Orleans 6; Fair Mobiles s}; Fair
Uplands SJ; Middling Orleans 54 Middling Mobiles 5 1-16;
Middling Uplands 415-16; Inferior and ordinary 3j a 4sd.
The stock of cotton in this Port is 565.000 bales, of
which 394.000 are American, against a total stock at
this period of last year of 550.000 bales, of which 359.000
w ere American.
The sales to-day are 7000 bales with 3000 to specula
tors. *
There liar* been a fair business in Yarns and Goods, but
the extreme quotations of last week have barely been
maintained.

HAVRE. Sept. 24.— Cotton. —Since ourlxst circular of
the 17th inst. per Canada, we have received our l«tt*r«
from the States by that steamer, announcing a rise in
New York, on receipt of the latest accounts from Eu
rope; here these advices having been favorably antici
pated. the demand on Wednesday wan active, sales
reaching 1,300 bales, at stiff prices, particularly for infe
rior descriptions, which are getting scarce, and had not
undergone a proportionate rise with the intermediate
I qualities Thursday 700 bales were realized, and Friday
I 1.000 bales changed hands, and our brokers, iu fixing
1 the designation of tres has fr 2, leaving others unchang
\ ed. Saturday we looked for our advices per Ilermanu.
but they were not received, aud only 700 bales sales were
effected on that day. without any change a.'fto prices.
Sunday the Liveppool weekly circular only gave 36.-
860 bales, of which 27,500 for trade, and no alteration in
their rates, although certain letters state Is 16d decline,
ho that we commence on Monday without any anima
tion in the demand, and in the absence of fresh ac
counts from the States, sales did not exceed 500 bales at
well supported prices, for all descriptions, except supe
rior cotton, which is more abundant, and less in request |
than the lower designations. Yesterday wo learned by
Southampton the arrival of the Asia, with dates from N.
York to the 10th inst, announcing Is 2c rise, but they
leave us in the same position, and our transactions were
only to the extent of 600 bales.
To sum up, the sales of the week amouut to 4.989
bales, against 4.895 bales imports, which of course, re
duce our stock on hand to about 33.900 bales actually,
and of which 25,000 bales are United State, including
2.000 bales Sea Island. For further particulars we refer
to our statement at foot.

~PROF. A C. BARRY’S TRICOFHEROUS,
OK MEDICATED COMPOUND. —The efficacy of this
justly celebrated ambrocation for invigorating,
beautifying and imparting a gloss and silken softness to
the nair, is now so widely known and acknowledged,
that it has gained by its merit a reputation which is not
for a day. but for all time. It is the province of science
to subdue and control these physical evils which refin
ed civilization has brought in its train; for so long as
warm rooms and tight hats, with the combined agency
of other influences exist, will thousands of unhappy vic
tims be troubled with bald heads and grey hairs, to say
nothing of the various cutaneous diseases to which the
head is subjected. It was to relieve these evils that
Professor Barry introduced his invaluable remedy, and
among the thonaand and one who have been his com
petitors, he now stands alone on that pedestal of suc
cess, hewn out of Barry's Tricopherous, and sustained
by the favor and universal patronage of a discerning
and intelligent public. For restoring the Hair to its
original growth, or preventing it from falling out, this
compound has been pronounced by all medical men to
be a sure remedy. For eradicating scurf, dandruff, and
curing diseases of the skin, glands, muscles, stings and
bruises, the Tricopherous will always be found a safe,
speedy, and unfailing cure; and so long as
“ Fair tresses man’s imperial race ensnare,
And beauty draws us with a single hair,”
will Barry's Tricopherous be essential to the toilet of
every lady and gentleman who desire to give a soft,
glossy and luxuriant appearance to the natural drapery
of reason's throne. Sold in large bottles, price 25 cents,
at the principal office, No. 137 Broadway. New York ;
