Consumption of the Lungs, Spitting of IMood. Bronchitis, Hooping Cougli, ami Pulmonary Af fections. ,4 Lnreli/ Young Lady eured of Consumption. The following is from tho peu of Win. 11. Levison. Ksq., the (listiuguislied editor of the U. 8. Military and Naval Argus, under date New York, January *2O, 1850.- What could be more conclusive ! 4 * It is seldom we permit ourselves to occupy a space in these columns to speak in praise of any article in the patent medicine way ; but when we see tho life of a fel low-creature saved by tlm use of any medicine what ever, we consider it as our right, if not our duty, to give a simple statement of facts, that others may, in like 1 manner, be beneiitted. Tim case which has induced us to pen this article, was that of a young lady of our ac quaintance, who, by frequent exposure to the night air, contracted a Cold which settled on the Lungs before its ravages could he stayed. (This occurred two years ago this winter.) Various remedies were used, hut with very little eirect or benefit. The Cough grew worse, with copions expectoration, and the sunken eye, and pale, hollow cheek, told plainly that pulmonary disease was doing its worst on her delicate frame. The family physician was consulted, and although he would uot ad mit to the young lady that she really had the Consump tion, yet he would give no encouragement as to a cure. I At this crisis her mother was persuaded to make use of j a bottle of Dr. Rogers’ Compound Byrup of Liverwort and Tar, and w e are happy to state that she was perfect ly cured in less tbr.n three months by this medicine I alone, after oven hope was destroyed. It is useless to | comment on such a case as this, for tho simple truth will reach where polished fiction never can. If any doubt the authenticity of this statement, let them cail at this office.— U. S. Military and Naval Argus , No. 19 Chatham street. N. Y. Tt stimonies of the Neio York Press. From the New’ York Courier, August 13, 1850. Du. Rogkus* Byuup ok Livkkwoiit and Tar.— We have heard of several important cures recently effected by this excellent medicinal preparation, aud in one in J stance, that came under our observation, we can speak I confidently. One of our employees, who had suffered ! severely from a long standing cold, during the past week, commenced the use of this mediciue. and his Cold has entirely disappeared. From the New York Mirror, Sept. 2, 1850. Livkhwokt and Tar. —Of the virtues of Dr. Rogers* Cough Medicines, prepared from the above articles, it is needless now to speak; its efficacy in speedily curing Coughs. Colds, and other Lung Complaints, which too frequently, if neglected, result in Consumption, is too well established in public confideueo to need eulogy now. From the New York Despatch. Aug. 25th, 1849. We have heretofore taken occasion to give our testi mony in favor of the curative properties of Dr. Rogers' Compound Syrup of Liverwort and Tar, and would hera repeat the ud\ ice already given for all persons who are afflicted with Consumption, or any of the premonitory symptoms, to make a trial of Dr. Rogers' preparation. In this preparationwe have all the restorative pro perties of the root combined and concentrated in their utmost strength and efficacy. Experiments were made in the manufacture of this medicine until it was found it could not be improved. Accordingly, we find it re sorted to almost universally in cases of Scrofula. Liver Diseases, Salt Rheum, General Prostration of the Vital Powers, and all those tormenting diseases of the skin so trying to the patience, and injurious to the health. It is a tonic, aperient and disinfectant. It acts simulta neously upon the stomachy the circulation, and the bowels, and thus three processes, which are ordinarily the result of three different kinds of medicine, are car ried on at the same time through the instrumentality of this one remedial agent. There are many ways of re lieving pain for the time being, but there is only one way of removing disease. No palliative, no anodyne, no tropical application wilt remove it. It must bo at tacked at its source, in the fluids of the body, which convey the poison to the localities where it is develop ed in inflammation, sores, ulcers, tumors, abscesses, glandular swellings, Ac., a* the case may be. These fluids must be reached, acted upon, purified by some powerful agent. Such an agent is Sand*# Saraa parilla. which gently stimulates while it disinfects and expels from the stomach and bowels all that is irritating, and at the same time restores their vigor .and tone. Its great merit is that it meets ami neutralizes the active principle of disease itself, and when that is o symptoms necessarily disappear. The rapidity vith which the patient recover# health and strength under ‘his triple influence is surprising. Each new case in which it is applied furnishes in the result u m-w certifi cate of its excellence : and we have only to point to the accumulated testimony of multitudes who have expe rienced its effects, to convince incredulity itself of its real value. Lieut. Miller, of the Army, has kindly sent us the fol lowing letter from California : Moxtrrry, Jan. IS, 1850. Mrssrs. A. B. .V I). Saxos :—Gentlemen —l beg leave to add my testimony in favor of your invaluable medi cine, hoping it may lead some unfortunate beings to try its effeeVs, and that they may be benefitted as I have been. I arrived here from the United States by the overland route about the first of October last. A few days after, I was attacked with a very disagreeable eruption of the skin, which my physician could not cure. 1 happened to find your Sarsaparilla in a store in this place, and ro ineinbering the popularity of the medicine at home, I purchased three bottles, which had the desired effect of removing my difficulty entirely. With high regard, yours. Ac., J. 11. MILLER. U. S. A. FROM THE FT ATE OK MAINE. Tin* attention of the reader is called to the following certificate of a remarkable cure effected by using only five bottles of Sands' Sarsaparilla : Hi unit, (Maine.) April 15, 1850. Mrssrs. A. B. A D. Sands: —Gentlemen—This is to certify that the subscriber, of Sidney, county of Kenne bec. State of Maine, lias been afflicted, more or lews ever since my birth, with Scrofula, which continued to in crease until la>t February. In January, my legs were so swollen I could not get on a boot or stocking, and 1 had several large sores on me all the time. In this situ ation. I was about to give up in despair, when I was ad vised to try Sands'Sarsaparilla. I had not much faith in it. but I sent to your agent in Augusta. Me., and pro cured a bottle, which did me so much good, 1 sent and got another, and continued until I had taken five bot tles. lam now perfectly well. If any person who may read this letter is afflicted with any disease of Scrofula, l would most sincerely recommend and advise them to make use of Sands'Sarsaparilla. If any person wishes further information about my case, by calling upon ino 1 can convince them of the healing power of this medi cine. Signed, STEPHEN HAYWOOD. Augusta, April 16,1850. P.
