COTTON.—Our last weekly rev iew left the close of our market with the remark, that "were a lot of 50 to 100 1 hales, strictly Fair put on the market, it would readily bring 7| cents/* On Wednesday morning the market opeued with a fair demand at the prices quoted hv us and the sales made during the day were without change * up to the afternoon, when the steamer Africa's news i came to hand, noticing an improvement in the Liverpool market of on the lower grades. On Thursday morn- > ing, there was a good demand at an improvement of Ja « jc. on all qualities* in this market, and all offered met with ready sale at the above advance. On Friday, the j market remained much the same, and all offered met j with ready buyers at full rates. On Saturday, the mar ket gave way about J cent, in consequence of an advance of Freights in Savannah, and the advance in the Charles ton and New York markets not corresponding with that in our own. In this state our market closed on Satur- I day evening, dull. On Monday morning, our merchants were in possession of the steamer Atlantic's advices, 1 which gave a further advance in the Liverpool market of |d. This gave more confidence to buyers, and during Monday there was an active demand at prices ranging as follows: for Middling Fair 8, for Fair SJ. and some small parcels of Fully Fair were disposed of at 8$ cents — which was |a j cent over Saturday's prices. On Monday evening the Asia's news came to hand, per telegraph’ but they were so unsatisfactory to our merchants, that they, in a measure withdrew from the market, and up to the close of our enquiries (Tuesday, 2. P. M.) there was little or no business done, buyers refusing to purchase, and holders not offering the stocks. In this state our m irket closed up to their above mentioued hour, and we omit quotations, as they may mislead. All parties, when we closed our enquiries, were anxiously awaiting further particulars per steamer A*\n.. The receipts at this point continue to be very limited for the season of the year. That coming to hand by wagons meets with ready sale at full prices. RECEIPTS OF COTTON, From Is* September, 1851, to the latest dates reared. 1851. 1850.
