NIAGARA.
COTTON ADVANCED 1.8 a l-4d.
Chaklkston, Dec. 11.
The steamer Niagara has arrived at Halifax
with later advices from Europe.
The Cotton market at Liverpool was anima
ted and the moderate imports and reduced stock
in the market had caused an eagerness to
buy. The demand was large and prices for
Ordinary and Middling had advanced id, and
the better qualities id. The sales of the week
amount to 59.000 bales, 2300 for exportation
and 17,000 to Speculators. The quotations are
for Fair Orleans s|, Mid’g. Sid, Fair Mobile sf,
Mid’g. 4{d. The stock at Liverpool has been re
duced to 394,000 baits against 488,000 at the
same time last year.
There was a fair demand for Flour, Southern
being worth 18s. 6d. to 19s. 6d. Wheat was in
good demand. Corn, dull. Sugar, more ani
mated, with steady prices; Havana, 17s. Coffee,
improving. Rice. East India, advanced 6d.,
Carolina nominal. Money was more abundant.
American Stocks dull and unchanged. Consols
closed at 98 J.
The excitement in France, between the Pres
ident and Assembly, still continues, and the
popularity of the President is increasing.

receipts reach 16,055 bales. Stock on hand ex

Liverpoot Market. —Head's Circular says
that the quantity of Cotton on sale, is not in ex
cess of the demands, and prices tending upward. !
The week's advance is fully one-eighth. Several
cargoes of New Orleans met with ready sale.—
Naval stores have improved.

active demand for Cotton yesterday, which resulted in
the sale of 2,420 bales.—the largest operations iu a

ble change. The following comprise the sales: 39 at 7,
24 at 74. 136 atso at 7j. 72 at 7*. 90 at 74, 231 at 73,

MEN, slaves, viz: LEWIS, about 28 ycurs
of age, bright complexion, stout built and
very active; has a very high lbrohcad, and rathor
down look, when quickly interrogated, spenks with
a little stuttering. Lewis is about five feet nine in
clios high, and when he left had whiskers.
SAM is about 25 years of age, is bright, and has
a high forohoad, open countenance, and speaks
tolerably fluont; ho is about 5 feot 10} inches high,
ruther slender made, has a very small hand; when
a little intoxicated speaks fluently, and rathor im
pudent, and had goatees when ho left.
TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS reward will be giv
en for the above described Negroes, if found within
the District, and THIRTY-FIVE if found out of
tho District but in the State, and FIFTY DOL
LARS if they are arrested out of tho State. And
as a further inducement, the subscriber will
give ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS reward to any
ono who will apprehend said slaves and furnish
testimony to convict any one, of inducing or fur
nishing said slaves with u ticket or tickets to pass
to a Froo State.
The abovo rewards will be given, if any one will
delivered tho said slaves to the subscriber, or de
posit thorn in any jail of the State or of the United
States, and give notice of such commitment to me.
