BEMARKB
Business generally has shown a perceptible falltflg
off since our last report.
The recent decliue in chiton has affected (h i market
considerably, planters only selling enough to supply
present needs, and the general market suffers in coo
saqueuce.
Bacok is scarce and prices stiff. Clear and Clear
Ribbed Sides are almost entirely out. Wo quote C.
Bides, 19c: C R. Sides, 18 h ; B. B. Sldos, 17k; Shoul
ders, 15 @lsk ; Hams, 18 @ 23.
Butter, is in moderate demand. We quote Ooahen,
69 Cci) 55 ; Country, 30 ® S5.
Baqqixg and Rope .—Demand rather easy. Prices
unchanged.
Cobs.—ln good demand. But little arriving now-
We quote old’White, $1 15 ; old Mixed, 1 10 from do,
pot; now White, without sacks, $106; new mixed
without sicks, $1 00 ; new in car, 95
Whkat is rather scarce, a fuh supply is not expect
ed until after seeding. White, $2 25; Red, 1 80a2 10.
Salt.—Easier oa account of heavy stocks. Liver

Tobacco is dull, and but few transactions reported.
Quotations unchanged.
Domestic Goods.—The demand continues fair in
proportion to other articles of trade Augusta Fac
tory goods have'declined. 4 4 sheeting, 14; % shirt
ing, 12k ; X shirting, 10k, and drilling, 10 cent*.
•No other change to note.
FINANCIAL.—-Not much activity during this
week in securities. Georgia Rail Road Stock, how
ever, sold as high ns $72*00, wo note sales of 60 shares.
City Bonds—old arc held at 76, flat. A past due city
Bond'was sold at 80. There is some demand for Cen
tral Kail Road Stock, and Montgomery and West Point
Rail Road Boods—Augusta and Columbia Rail Road
Stock sold at ten (10) dollars. Factory Stock. 142.
Gold ltaving again dec ined in New York, the trans
actions here are limited, buying at 133 ® 134, and soil
ing at 13S ; Silver, buying, 125 (3 121, selling. 130 @132.

COTTON.—On Saturday our market was quiet and
weak at 21k for middling.
On Mord iy it w.is somewhat firmer, though not
quotably higher. Middlings, 21k~ some asking 21
On Tuesday, there being but few transactions in
New York, and nqj'e whatever in Liverpool, on ac
count of the election held there, prices were hardly
maintained, market dosing dull, nominally, 21), @2IX-
On Wednesday, the accounts from New York show
ing more firmness in that market, our market closed
firm at 21X. Some asking 22 for New York middling
Yesterday, prices were fully maint ined, middlings
at the close of ihc day being sold at 22.
To-day. under favorable r. ports from New York and
Liverpool, it is firm with an upward tendency. Mid
dlings are quotable at 22 @ 22X- Demand fair.
Bales of the week amount to 3,390 bales, and re
ceipts, 1,187.
