Weakly Review of Augusta Market.
We can report no improvement in the general busi
ness of the city since last week—in fact the market has
been rather dull. Planters contlnueing to supply only
immediate wants, and yesterday being Thauksgiving
ihiy, liar affected tlie business of the week consider
ably. Mereharus are anticipating a good trade for the
ensuing week, as cotton has advanced eg bn, and the
market will show a more animated appearance in con
sequence We hope to present something more en
couraging for our next report.
Bacon.— Tlie demand is light, and prices easier.—
t-tock small. We quote Clear Sides, 18)4 ; O. It.
Sides, IS ; Shoulders, 14)4 ® 15.14 1 Hams, 18 @ 23.
The demand f r meats generally, is not good.
Bottsr. —Demand moderate. We quote Goshen,
60 O 55; Country, 31 ® 35.
Uaooiko and lions, are easy. There ia a good sup
ply of ltopc on hand. Heavy Bagging Is Scarce. For
light Ba.ging prices are easy—no material change In
quotations.
Corn.—Good and mend. Stock light, and arrivals
small. We quo'e old White, i*l 15 ; old Mixed, $L 11'
from depot; new White, without sacks, $1 05 ; new
Mixed, witlunft sacks, $1 09 ; new in ear, 93.
Whkat.—Continues scarce. A large amount Is held
backier seeding, after which a full supply may be ex
pected. We quote, White, 225 @ 240 ; Red, 1 80 @
2 20.
Fi.oub.— The supply is equal to'the demand. Dea
lers are only buying small lois for city trade. Prices
easy.
Salt —basy.
DoMeSTtc "Goods.—Demand light and prices easy in
consequence, though we have no quotable change to
make.
Drugs, &c.—Business in this line is quite dull.
FINANCIAL.—During the week iiut little business
has been done in Securities of all kinds. Sales of Ga.
It. R. Stock have been at all prices, from 92 @ 93. ana
closed dull to-day at 94, at which sales were made.—
City Bimils, old issue, are sought after, hut are not of
fciing on ihemarket—last sales 1 75, new, at 73. Con
siderable enquiry for Central Rail Road Stock, and 128
has been offeree!. Georgia Rail Road and Central
Rail Road Bonds arc ottering at par. Augusta & Col
umbia Kail Road Stock has been sold this week at 9 50
per share, and Bonds, at 75. Factory Stock is selling,
and in demand, at. 143 (_3 145.

COTTON.—On Salurdayxrar market was firm with
a good demand, at 22 @ 22V for middling.
On Monday, Liverpool and New York being firm
and advancing, our market advanced to 22X @ 23.
Some holders asking higher rates.
On Tuesday it continued to advance, closing firm r at
23 X @23X-
On Wednesday prices were fully maintained, with
out, however, any further advance. Market closing
firm at 231f @23X-
Thursday being thanksgiving day. there were hut
few transactions, on a basis of 23X for middlings.
To-day the market is quiet, at 23X for middlings—
very little demand.

The said election to be held at the following named
places ; the polls to be. opened at eight (8) o’clock, a.
m., and closed at live (5) o’clock, p. m., on the day
named, and to he held for the
First Ward—At the Scale House.
Second Ward—At the City Hull.
Third Ward—At tho Engine House, comer of
Jackson and Greene streets.
Fourth Ward—At the Upper Market.
The appointments for the two hitter Wards at tho
places named, being made for the reason that we have
been officially apprised by Iho Mayor of the City of
Augusta, that the proprietors of the Central Hotel, of
the Third Wind, and Planters’ Hotel, of the Fourth
Ward (being the places named in the Ordinances for
holdihg said elections), object to the elections being
held in their hotels.

In accordance with the law, the Commissioners of
Registration, under the Municipal Bill for the Oity of
Aiuueta, on the 14th day ot November, 1801, appoint
ed three cilizcns in and for each Ward—one of whom
was a JusMcc of the Peace—to superintend the elec
tion. On this day a majority of tlio Board appointed
thiee additional citizens In and for each Ward, as
superintendents of said election. The action of the
majority of the Board on this day we protest against
