WEDNESDAY MORNING. MAY 4, 1870
State Items.
The Atlanta Constitution reports that
Wm. Thurman, Esq., died in Carroll coun
ty last Tuesday. In the 94th year of his
nee. He was one of the first, settlers of
DeKalb county, and lived within two
miles of Atlanta for thirty-live years.
A little girl, daughter of Mr. Richard
wo, who lives within three miles of Dalton,
Sed very suddenly a few days ago. She
was taken sick at school, aud while being
carried home, expired in the arms of her
teacher. She died from a throat disease,
having choked from the accumulation of
phlegm.
A collision occurred on the State Road
Saturday between a lumber train aud an
excursion train returning to Atlanta from
KennesaW Mountain after a second load
of excursionists from the Educational
Society. Both the engines were badly
smashed and several cars suffered the same
fate. Benjamin Kimball, the conductor,
and Green Turner, a fireman, were injured.
At a meeting at Ellaville, Ga.. the citi
zens of Schley county authorized the Or
dinary to subscribe fifty thousand dollars
to the stock bf a proposed railroad from
Newnan or Columbus, intersecting the Ma
con and Brunswick Road, provided the
road passed through Ellaville.
The Brunswick Appeal, of the 29th, says:
The building ot the telegraph line on the
M. & B. R. R., under charge of Mr. W. A.
Benton, from this city upward. Is progress
ing. The wire is now up some ten miles.
Col. Hnlbert crossed the A. & G R.
R. R. at No. 9 this week, and now has his
track laid about three miles beyond. With
in a day more he will reach the sixty mile
post.
The Savannah Valley Railroad—A
correspondent of the Abbeville Press urges
the resuscitation of the Savannah Valley
Railroad, to run from Anderson via Abbe
ville and Dorn’s to Augusta, and says, in
furtherance of his views :
It would be a waste of words to urge
upon our people the importance of a work
which would pour into our lap the fruits
of the fertile valleys of the West, and bear
our own rich products*to the sea. This is
an age of railroad enterprise, aud our peo
ple are fully alive to the greatness of the
blessings which follow in its train. With
regard to the feasibility of the scheme,
there can be as little hesitation. Where
there is a will there is always a way, and
here any amount of interest and enthu
siasm could be easily evoked. President
Millet! wants to know whether the right
of way can be obtained ? We will answer
yes unhesitatingly, and give our good citi
zen, Mr. Dorn, as our authority for sayiug
that a most liberal subscription, in ad
dition, can be had along the entire route.
A public meeting is to be held at Dorn's
Mine on the 7th May, and the leading men
of that section are manifesting much inter
est on the subject. Come up on sale day
and talk the matter over. A map of the
route taken under the old survey may be
seen in our office. •
Georgia Albinos—Strange Phenom
enon.—The Dawson (Ga.) Journal, of April
28, contains the following account of one of
the strangest freaks of nature that has
ever occurred in this country, and which
seems to eclipse any phenomenon of the
kind known in .the Trans-Atlantic coun
tries. The Journal says :
We have in Dawson four Albinos, aged
respQctlntely from about four to ten years.
The parents of these children are very
black, especially the father—the mother
being a little the brightest of the two. If
we have been correctly informed, the
mother has given birth to seven children ;
the three first-born are as black as their
parents, while the last four are unnatu
rally white, with long flaxen hair as soft
as down. . They do not converse very flu
ently—seem to be somewhat ab*eatrmlnd
ed, and are ordinarily intelligent. They
see better at night than in the day time.
We learn that when the first white child
was bom, the father was rather inclined to
disown it, but satisfactory reasons having
been given by physicians, he became recon
ciled, and is now very proud of all his
children, notwithstanding the contrast in
their color, and has been offered large sums
of money for the white ones for public ex
hibition. * * *'

*3T COMPLICATED MECHANTCISM -ARE
you aware that you aTe wonderiu ly and fearfully
made, and that the complicated and delicate mechan
ician! of the human body can be entirely disarranged
by one part being opt of order, just as the springs,
wheels and cogs ot a c'oek r> fuse to go, i f even an in
finitesimal portion of the works is wanting.
Being acquainted with this fact, how surprising it
is to see hundreds of sensib e men and women going
through life like a creaking door, a wavs complaining
and yet never resorting to any means of impi oving their
health.
Any little violent exercise for a few minutes will
occasion great distress ; beating of the heart, throb
bing of the temples and labored and impeded respira
tion—this is weakness or debility, a thin and inopov
e’ished condition oi the blood, the pabulum of Jlfp.
Nature, by these symptoms, is making a requisition
for assistance and support. The machinery is but of
order—a screw is loose somewhere in the animal
mcohanicism—won’t you repair it? Won’t you raise
up the digestive apparatus to a healthy contrition by
a tonic and strengthening medicine t Invalids, fiys

• 7 BAD BLOOD.”
“ The Life is the Blood.”
From it we derive our strength, beauty
and mental capabilities. It i6 the oar
being, around which revolves all that makes
existence happy. When this source is corrupt
ed the painfnl effects are visible in many
shapes, prominent among which is v
SCROFULA.
This, is a taint or infection of the human or
ganism, and probably no one is wholly free
from it. It exhibits itself in various shapes—
as Ulcers and Sores, Decayed Bones, Diseased
Scalp, Sore Eyes, Weak aud Diseased Joints,
St. Vitns’ Dance, Foul Discharges from the
Nostrils, Eruptions, Glandular Swellings,
Throat Affections, Rheumatism, Heart Affec

tions. Liver Complaint, Salt Rheum, Dyspep
sia, Neuralgia, Loss of Manhood and General'
Debility.
It has been the custom to treat these dis
eases with Mercury and other Mineral sub
stances, which, though sometimes producing a
cure, often prove injurious and entails misery
in after life. The long known injurious prop
erties of these so-called alteratives aud puri
fiers has led tee pbilanthropical mau of science
to explore the arena of nature, the result of
which has been the discovery of vegetable pro
ducts which possess the power of eradicating
these taints from the blood.

from her ankle, s“veral Iron) her arrq, besides
having ulcers in several parts of the body.—
Whilst in this condition she commenced, taking
your Koskoo —it acted like a charm on her; un
der its use the ulcers gradually healed, and her
general health greatly improved. It certainly
saved her much suffering, and perhaps her life,
j regard Koskoo a specific for all scrofulous
affections. Your Koskoo also cured my wife
of dyspepsia, from which she suffered greatly.
She is now in better health than she has been in
five years.
With the highest regards,
I am gratefully yours, Ac.,
A. W. MILLS.
Koskoo is endorsed by the beat physicians
everywhere. Read the following from Dr.
Tillery, a successful practitioner of many years
standing in the Old North State:
Rocky Mount, Kdgecomh Cos., - /
September 30, 1869. )
Dr. J. J. Lawrence—De tr Sir; I have used
your Concentrated Fluid Extract of Koskoo in
my practice with the happiest results. I find it
to be a powerful Liver Invigorator, Blood Pu
rifier, and Nervous Tonic. In all diseases ot
the Liver, Scrofulous, Bypbiiitic and Nervous
Affections, it is a remedy of immense value ;
in fact, in almost eyer/ yariety of' Chronic
pieces its hue is indicated. Hoping yon
may meet with the success which you deserve
as a manufacturer of reliable medicines, I am,
sir, with much respect,
Your obedient servant,

Da. J. J. Lawrence— Dear Sir: My son has
received so much benefit from your wonderful
Koskoo that I cannot retrain from expressing
my gratitude. I had tried almost everything
without benefit. 1 believe, in all sincerity, that
your Koskoo is an infallible remedy for the
disease from which he has suffered, and, so far
as I can learn, has never failed. If yon only
knew the immense amount of suffering that he
has undergone, then you could conceive the
value of such a remedy as Koskoo— that surely
cusps. The great amount of good it is now
doing among ns is inestimable.
With much gratitude,
I am, respectfully, yours, #c.,
Mrs. M. E. A. NE{,BON.
FROM DR. LLOYD, A PHYSICIAN OF LARGE
PRACTICE.
Grrat Bridor, Va., October 8,1869.
J. J. Lawrence, M. D.—Dear Sir: I cheer
fully endorse your Koskoo as being a most
valuable preparation. Upon examination of
the formula, I find each ingredient highly ex
tolled by our best and most progressive clini
cal investigators. I have tested its effects in
my own practice, and have no hesitation in
recommending it. In my opinion, it is the best
compound of its class ever pnt before the pub
lic —exceeding by far all the various componnds
of Sarsaparilla, Ac-, ever invented. It is a de
cided Nerve Tonic, and Invigorator of the ani
mal forces, aiding digestion and assimilation,
and thereby producing healthy blood, which
should be the basis of treatment in’ all chronic
diseases. Roping you will reap the reward
jmu 3e4ervfe from the public as a benefactor,
I am, sir, yours truly,
