Colonel Herbert Fielder Is suggested as a candidate for Senator from the 11th Sen atorial district. Old Aunt Mary Sledge (colored) died in Upson county, on Friday, the 22d ultimo, aged 103 years. Mr. Jno. Fanner, Jr., was severely shock ed by a stroke of lightning in Macon on Tuesday, being knocked insensible for a considerable time. The track-layers on the Brunswick and Albany Railroad have reached the uinety mile post. It is the intention of the com pany to complete the road to Albany by. the first of Jauuary next. The Atlanta Constitution says It seems as Claiborne, the member of the Legislature who was kUled the other day, was a poly gamist. Several wenches have represented themselves to be his lawful wives, in order to draw from the Treasury the money due Claiborne. The Savannah News, of the 31st ult., says: “ The steamer Dictator, which ar rived yesterday, brought an alligator 12 feet long. His ’g terslfip will be shipped by the steamship Oriental, this morning, to a gentleman in Boston. The monster was caught in Florida.” The Columbus Enquirer says: “There was a personal difficulty at Cusseta, yes terday, between D. A. Burts, Esq., and Mr. N. N. Howard, in which the former was shot in the forehead, and the latter severely, if not mortally, wounded on the head with a hatchet. No particulars as to the origin of the fuss.” A prominent Georgian sends us the fol following in reference to certain inaccura cies of the work of W. H. Sparks, which was reviewed in last Sunday’s Chronicle : To the Editor of the Washington Chronicle : The Chronicle of last Sunday morning has extracts from a recent work by W. H. Spards, entitled “ The Memories of Fifty Years." In one of them the State of Geor gia is reproached for neglecting the graves of her distinguished dead. A part, at least, ot this reproach is undeserved, “ William Holt Crawford," says the writer, “lies buried in the garden of his home, without a stone to mark the spot.” «SThis is not true. The celebrated William H. Craw ford, William Harris, not Holt, lies buried, not in his garden, but in an enclosed family burial ground near the house in which he lived, In Oglethorpe county, Ga., and the spot is marked by a marble slab, with an appropriate inscription recounting his pub lic servioes. The spot is kept in good order by the present proprietor, Mr. Shelton Oliver. The writer also names Mr. Berrien in a list of eminent Georgians who are “ distin guished in their graves only by the green sod which covers them.” The grave of Mr. Berrien, in the Magnolia Cemetery, near Savannah, is covered by a handsome mar ble monument, bearing an inscription worthy of the man. Mr. Sparks is as wroug in his facts as in his politics. A Georgian. The “ Niggrk Capet.”—A West Point cadet writes this to the New York Stand ard in regard to the deeply injurned Smith: If the white plebes were as guilty in im pertinence to the drill master and officer as he is, they would be confined to their tents for two weeks, with no liberty except at meal times. His officers are actually afraid to nse the same language to him that they do to others for political reasons, and he is treated far better than any boy at his entry has ever been since West Point was found ed. The few trials he has endured have raised a terrible storm, and any one who has conversed with a' cadet can nnderetand what terrible trials the new students are compelled to endure, compared with which his are pleasures. €ritt)edtli) Constitutionalist. It is the centie of onr being, around which revolves all that makes existence happy. When this source is corrupt ed the painfnl effects are visible in many shapes prominent among which is SCROFULA. This is a taint or Infection of the human or ganism, and probably no one is wholly free from it. It exhibits itself in various shapes— as Ulcers and Sores, Decayed Bones, Diseased Scalp, Sore Eyes, Weak aud Diseased Joints, St. Vitus’ Dance, Fool Discharges from the Nostrils, Eruptions, Glandular Swellings, Throat Affections, Rheumatism, Heart Affec tions, Nervous Disorders, Barrenness, Disor ders of the Womb, Dropsy, Syphilitic Affec tions, Liver Complaint, Salt Rheum, Dyspep sia, Neuralgia, Loss of Manhood and General Debility. It has been the custom to treat these dis eases with Mercury and other Mineral sub stances, which, though sometimes producing a cure, often prove injurious and entails misery in alter life. The long known injnrions prop erties of these so-caiied alteratives and puri fiers has led the philanthropical man of science to explore the arena of nature, the result of which has been the discovery of vegetable pro ducts which possess the power of eradicating these taints from the blood. DR. TTJTT’S Compound Extract of MU All OH’S DEUEIT Is the acknowledged antidote to all Blood Dis eases. By its use the afflictions above enumer ated can be permanently banished, aqd the Softroe---tbe Centre of Life—the Blood, be maintained in all its parity and vigor. For Diseases produced by th» a „ e of Mercury, and for with lt» w * evils, this compound is the only sure antidote. To the poor creature, enieebled in mind and body, by secret practices, whose nerves are un strung and countenance downcast, THE SARSAPARILLA AND Queen’s Delight is a blessing. Try it fairly, and your nerves will be restored to their wonted vigor, and your dejected conntenance be made radiant with the consciousness of RESTORED MANHOOD, Being free from violent minerals, it is adapt ed to general use. The old and yonng may nse it; the most delicate female at any time may take it; the tender infant, who may bave inherited disease, will be cared by it.
