CANCER. An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831. a cancerous tumor appear ed in the riulu breast of .Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Fcier j Stretch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined by many I Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore ail tlu*. characteristic marks of | one. All prcv’.'tble means of removing it were used 1 without the slightest benefit, it continued to in j crease both in size ami painfnlness. until all hope j of saving Iter life, but by a painful operation, was 1 abandoned, w hich, after a consultation ol eminent Physicians, was performed. Jan. !*t, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the | proprietor, and two other medic..! ecu t'emen. The whole and entire right breast was r rre !, and af ter examination of the tumor, was ptovo meed hy j all present a cancer of the most malignant c harac j ter. In about three months, after enduring incrcdi | ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again, .''he remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for sec era! years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap j pearanee on tbe right side, immediately over the i part formerly occupied by the nipple cd' llu* right breast, prex lons to its removal. This tumor steadi- : | !y increased for several months, and became so j painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un- i der the right arm were enlarged; and sc-in bus, :md a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear ed to he a mass of disease. Her case vv.:« consid ered hopeless. Bhe was of a very scrofulous habit, bulb her parents having died of I’ulmonarv con sumption. The experiment was now’ made with this Alterative. It was at first given in small closes, three times a day, and the closes very gradit- j ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she 1 t 'ok it, which was about six montits, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Ilv driodale J’otash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumour swelled out at llie base, and became soft and then began to diminish, and c on tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in Iter left breast, and those in Iter right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever i appeared afterwards; and her general health, w Inch I had b* ett so bad for F urteen years as to make life a j burthen, was effectually and permanently restored. ; 'Fite proprietor is in possession of the diseased i breast, and those who choose may examine it. He | would also say that lie could mention over a dozen rases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but lie has not room hereto record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton's Bridge, N T . J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her w ind pipe, a- large as the half of an orange, which w as cured by using this Alterative for about four ; months. .MBs R S——.South Fourth-street, Piiila delphia, was ako cured ol an enlargement of the , throat, which filled the entire spaee between ihe j chin and hreast-honc, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ear* to her shoulders, and produced awful de formity. It commenced growing when she was but live years old. and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which nine she • commenced using this Alterative, which site took | fur seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty : a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty I >give her name in print, but w ill refer per sons to her. Ear sale bv WM. K. KITCHEN, tep !y 2 £oU Afeatfor Georgia. SHERIFFS SALES.
