CHARLESTON, March 25.— Cotton.— The Upland market yesterday proved more quiet than on the day previous, probably in consequence of the private accounts by the Hibernia not having been received by mail as expected. The sales of | the day somewhat exceeded SK) b iles, at prices ranging fr-.in iui at lU, being the full rates of the day before. COLUMBUS, March 22 Cotton.— There is not much doing in Colton, the few lots offered are generally taken at last weeks prices, but neither buyers or sellers show any great anxiety to oper ate. We notice no change in tigures, say 9to 10c. Slock on hand 15,641 bales. MACON, March 23.— Cotton. —We have no change to notice in the Cotton market since our last. The article is in request and commands a ready sale. We quote to-day 10 a 10* cents. NEW ORLEANS, March 20.—Cotton.—Ar rived since the 16lh instant, 7511 bales. Cleared f in the same time 13.775 bales—m iking a reduction | in stock of 6264 bales, and leaving a slock on j band, inclusive of all on shipboard not cleared on the 19th inst. a stock of 221,910 hales. Our last report closed with a dull and droopii market, the previously high rates demanded ’>y factors, and the absence of advices from Ibe North, owing to the repeated failures of the mail, having been among the cau-es which-appeared to induce buyers to suspend, ina great measure, their <q>eraUoiis. On V\ edoesday tbe Nor n -rn mail again failed, and scarcely anything was dime in the Colton market, the sales barely retching 500 bales, at easier prices. On Thur.-d-iy four mails came through from the North, but they seemed to I contain nothing calculated to infuse spirit info ihe Cotton market, which still remained in a compara tively quiet state, though with rather more busi ness than on the day previous, the sales having amounted to 3800 bates, at prices still more, in la- i vor of buyers. Yesterday there appeared to he a j little more enquiry, but siill only a moderate busi ness was done, the sales reaching about 4000 biles, making a total for the three days of 8300 bales, taken mostly for England, the North and the Continent. As regards prices they have ex hibited a good deal of irregularity, and there can hardly he said to have been an esiahli-hed market for some days past, occasional sales having been made in limited parcels, at an I to a I of a cent un der our figures, and in some instances, perhaps, at a greater reduction; but yesterday the market ap peared to have acquired more steadiness, and we scarcely find it necessary to alter our quotations, though it should be remarked that the inside figures are still the prevailing range. The total ■ales of the week sum up 14.100 hales. The re ceipts at this port since Ist Sep-ember, (exclusive of the arrivals from Mobile and Florida,) are 552,- 924 bales, against 743.756 bales at ihe ? ame date last year; showing a decrease of 190.832 hales.
