CANCLR. An interesting case cured by Jayne s Aderunve. In the spring of 1331. a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of .Mrs. I‘lioebe, wi.e of IVier Stretch, of Salem. N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, an 1 was considered by all as cancerous, ami besides bore a 1 the characteristic marks ol one. All pro a hie. means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued n» in crease both in size and painfulness, uiiiii ad hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was ahamloited, w Inch, after a consultation ol eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ft, 1332, by Dr. John Kb.a Barton, as>isted by Dr. Kedinan. tb. proprietor, ami two other medical gent’emen. 'Blo whole ami entire right breast was r< me 1. and as ter examination of the tumor, was pio o meed bv all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble, sufferings, flic was enabled, though broken n. spirit, to get about again, r*lie remained feeble and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years belore. In 11 it spring of 1837. upwards of five years alter her b.eas had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right si.ie immediately over :1k part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, prev ions to its removal. This tumor steadi !v increased for several months, am! became su painful as to deprived her of lest. The glands un- I dev the right arm were enlarged; and scin bus, ami ! a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap i p-ared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease Indeed her whole body appear | t -J to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hope less. Hie was of a very scrofulous habit. ! hot 1 1 her parents having died of I’nbmuiarv con -1 sumption. The experiment was now made vvnh i this Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, iliree limes a day, and the doses very gradu ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she look it, wliicli was about six months, and ihe skin over a< d around Hie tumour was wet night and morning with a stromr solution of lodine and llv driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased allo ■milier, ami tie* lumoiirswelled mil at the base, and became soft* and then began to dimirttsh. and con tinned gradually decreasing until every vestige of , disease was removed. The tumour in her left - breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis * persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; ami hergenera! health, w inch bad b eu so bad for fourteen years as t<> make life a burthen, was effec u.illy and permanently restored. South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire spaee between llie ( hin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck lo behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de formity. It commenced growing when she was but five years i 11. ami continued gradually in in crease until she was nineteen, at which time site commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she lias now as smooth ami pretty n neck as can he found.
