The proprietor of this Alterative would m<■>! re spectfully assure the public that lie has not olfered this preparation to their notice without due relf < - tion. and close and rigid study, nor until aber twelve years’ experience had rntmilested its ere. mperisritv over every oth-r article ojme kind.— nnd he now recommends it with confluence, tut.\ believing that the above combination <»f medicine will effectually eradicate from i he systeiii a vitoa r.f disease some of which have heretofore oeen con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of disease and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating front 1 obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and C ancerous Tumors. Tl> has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty vve.l defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu raors, arid in every case but one with perfect and t mire success. JSroacliocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in o\er a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary rase of fa’Utre. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho ride and cancerous affections lias convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may he j removed with as much certainly as lever and Afoie. He does nit u isli to he understood as say jog that they can In* cured as soon as Fever and Ague, hnt wiih as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only ttire these diseases when iortned, bui that il destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in tlie system, from which that peculiar v class of diseases, as well a> lit it ofscrofulacmauale. Scrofula—King’s Mvil. Tin* preparation has been used in numerous eases > of Scrofula, King's Evil, and scrofulous swellings, j and always with the most deci ed success. Skin Diseases. We has prescribed it fn a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum, or teller, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew and jaundiced skin,&c. Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. Tic* Douloureux* It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, j and iu every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great j many cases of chronic rheumaism, and in every ! casein which il was used until ihe system became i affected by the medicine, the disease was removed' Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking j the Alterative he had been confined to his room; ; hut before he had finished the third bode, he vv.ts enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re tarnud to his business, from which he had so long teen excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings, This medicine increases the powers of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and ail unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing pick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for wh t pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved ny it. In com lusion, the proprietor would say that some of rhe most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, broncbocele, and scrofula, have been cured hy this medicine, that have ever been rec orded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. CANCER. An interesting case cured bp Jayne's Alterative. In the spring i f 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem, N.J. it was examined by many Physicians, and w as considered by ail as cancerous, ami besides bore u.l the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it w ere used Without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until ail hope of saving her life, but hy a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation oj eminent Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Uhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gent'einen. The whole and entire right breast was remo"“d, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pioaounced h\ nil present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. die remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In tHe spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her hi east had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearatfee on the right side, immediately over the [inrt formerly occupied by the nipple of the rigid >rea>t, prev ions toils removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprived Iter of rest. The glands un- | der the right arm w ere enlarged; and scirrho l and a hard, irregn ir, and at limes painful umv ap peared in the left breast. No operation cot; i now arrest the disease. Indeed her v ,ole hod \ appear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless, die was of a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. 'Flie experiment was now made with this Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three limes a day. and the doses very gradu ally, but steadily increased daily, as site took it, which was a!wut six months, and tlie skin ! over anti around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hy driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at limes very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft and then began to diminish, and con- j tinned gradually decreasing uniil every vestige of , disease was removed. The tumour in her left ; breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever j appeared afterwards; and hergenerai health, which ! had been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a j burthen, was effecually and permanently restored. J The proprietor is in possession of the diseased 1 breast, and those-who i boose may examine it. He 1 would also say that he could mention over a dozen eases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room hereto record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., i had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her w ind- ‘ pipe, a- large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative fur about four muni h». Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the enure spaee between the chin and breast* bone, and extended around on each side o's her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de formity. Il commenced grow ing w hen she was but five years old. ami continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which tune she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her came in print, but will refer per sona to her. For saie 5y WM. K.
