He has prescribed it in almost every variety of disease and who unparalleled success, especially jn cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer ami Cancerons Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. 15ro«chocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) Jlf has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre.and it ha>« never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has m p t w ith in curing bror ho cele and cancerous affections has convinced Infh j that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be I removed with as much certainty as Fever ttud Ague. He does not wish to lie understood as say- I ina that they can be cured os soon as IVver and A'die, but with as much certainty; anil further, that ), e lias good reason for believ mg that this prepara tion will not only ( are these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lufkina in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate. Scrofula—King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous cases ofScrofnla, King's Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deed ed success. Skin Diseases. lie has prescribed it in a great variety ofciffane rus affections, and found it successful incurin.gsalt rheum, or letter, biles, blotches, pimples, rnorphew and jaundiced skin, &c. Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. It lias been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and w ith the happiest effect. Tic-Doulourcuz. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rhetimaism, and in every rase, in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was remov ■<!■* Clout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before lie had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re lurnad to his husine.-s, from which iie had so long been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings, This medicine increases the powers of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and ail unnatural enlargements are reduce!. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken forsome time, no matter for w li t pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, hronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at tliis lime. CANCER. An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative , j In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of N. J. it was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it w ere used j without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation oi eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was retco"ed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by 1 all present a cancer of the most malignant charac- . ter. In about three months, afterendtiring incredi- ■ ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again, the regained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the springof 1837, upwards of five years after her bieast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on he right side, immediately over the 1 part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right \ breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so j painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and a hard, irregular, and attunes painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest lhe disease. Indeed her w hole body appear ed to be a mass of disease Her case was consul- ! ered hopeless, fcdiew as a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having ’ f Fe- mnary con sumption. The experim t r . made with this Alterative. It was : yen in small doses, three times a (lay, ai . v s very gradu ally, hut steadily increased . as long as she I took it, which was about six 1 iths, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong so. men of lodine ami lly driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was. at times Very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto* 1 gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and ! became soft, and then began to diminish, and con- | tinned gradually decreasing until every vestiu of disease was removed. The tumour in herTeft breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis- I perseil. No cancerons or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and hergeneral health, which had h*en so bad for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, waseffec uaily and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen ' cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room hereto record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge,N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her wind pipe, a- large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R S , South Fourth-street. Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire spaee between the chin and hreast-honc, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from Pher ears to her shoulders, and produced av\ ful de formity. It commenced growing when she was but five years old. and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name in print, but will refer per «ons to her. . For tale by TVM. They have been | triumphantly tested not only by some of the most 1 respectable families in the State, who have furnish* j ed ample testimony as to their decided excellence, but also by the proprietor, who, for ten years, suf fered all the gloom incident to that distressing dis ease. They possess the peculiar excellence denied to most other Bitters, of not proving injurious by continued use. They contain not a single delete i nous ingredient, and, as sefti from the directions w hich accompany each bottle, nay be given with j entire safety to an infant in the month If the Colleton is taken regularly and persever ; ingly,( which is highly important in stubborn cases,) j they will, soon alter the use of a few bottles, be I found to act on the system like a charm—imparting | vigor to the stomach, bracing the nerves, cleans l j iug the liver, promoting digestion, increasing the i appetite, strengthening ilie chest and voice, reliev ing pains, cramps, and -niches in the breast. In all the foregoing complaints, these Bitters w ill lie found effectual ifpersisted in, and taken accord ing to the directions which accompany each bottle. And although it has been testified bv several that they are excellent in many others, yet in none other than those above enumerated, is the proprietor will* i ingto vorreh for their efficacy.
