Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry. This medicine, prepared by a long experienced and skilful physician, tested and approved by a great number of intelligent, discriminating and respectable persons in various parts of the country, is now received and with entire confidence and with great success by those afflicted with pulmo nary complaints. It is also recommended as a val uable medicine for other diseases, such as colds, coughs, and particularly diseases whose tendency is to consumption. Should its efficacy continue a-' it has thus far been proved in various obstinate cases, it w ill indeed be a most invaluable medicine. Da. Bradford Knapp, of Crown Point, N. V ~ ina letter dated August 3d, 1845, says:— In the course of ray practice in this vicinity 1 have tested in some good degree the good qualities of It istur s Balsam of Wild Cherry in Pulmonary Complaints, and I now wish to procure a supply of the medi cine. [From the Boston Traveller.\ Balsam of Wild Cuchrt.—We publish to-day a commendatory letter from Vermont, of this popu lar medicine. Though averse to the free use of medicine, and especially of the patent medicines ol the day, we have had such opportunities to know of the beneficial effects of this Balsam on our friends and acquaintance, that we are constrained to regard it as a very valuable remedy for coughs, colds, &c. CHARLESTON, April 21.— Colton.— The general features of the Cotton market has under gone no change since the close of the previous week. The market continues quiet, from the fact that holders do not seem disposed to submit to a decided concession. Transactions on Sa turday last may be said to have been suspended, as the sales did not reach 100 hags. Un Mon day and yesterday there was some little inquiry, particularly for the better grades, but buyers made slow progress, owing to the stringent rates re quired for the article. During the two days the operations reached a little over 900 bags—4o3 on Monday and 505 bags on Tuesday—-at an J and perhaps in occasional instances Jc. decline, which it will be recollected was the reduction claimed at the close of business on the day vve received the European advices; the market, however, is very unsettled. The sales in three days roach but 1000 bags at extremes, ranging from lOj to ll|c. 500 of which sold at llj and 1 He. per lb. Rice. —The Rice market on Saturday and Monday was very quiet; yesterday, however, some inquiry prevailed for the better qualities, and sellers obtained a decided advantage over purchasers. The transactions since our last reach 1500 tierces at extremes ranging from 3| to 4 5-lOths; and at the close of operations prices had advanced a full Jo. There was a sale at a price much above our highest figures, but as it forms no criterion in the market, we have thought it advisable not to report the transaction. Up to the present writing, there has been no la ter arrival from Europe. The steamer is looked for at Boston early in the week, and the Sarah Sands soon after.
