Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) lie ha« prescribed it in over a hundred eases of j goitre,and it has never failed in a single instance | j (J completely remove the disease. iNot a soatary ; case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing bromkn- j cele and cancerous affections has convinced mm I that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed v\ith as ranch certainty as lever and A~ue. He does not wish to be understood as say ing that they can he cured as soon as Fever and A me hut with as much certainty; and further, that 1m has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only Hire these diseases when formed, hut that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar i class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate, j Scrofula— King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous cases I of Scrofula, King's Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deci led success. Skin Diseases. He ha? prescribed it in a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum, or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples,raorphew and jaundiced skin, &c.- Dyspepsia ami Liver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. : Tic-Doulonreuz. It has been used in several titles of Neuralgia, i and in every case it was successful. Uheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many eases of chronic rheuinaism, and in every case in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed* Gout. A number of eases of gout have K?en cured by this preparation. In one of these cases,.the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen | years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to bis taking j the Alterative he had been confined to his room; : but before he had finished the third bottle, be was j enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, front which he had so long been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsies 1 Swellings* Thismedicine increases the powers of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches,giddiness, wardering j pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some lime, no matter fur what pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor w ould say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, branchocele,and scrofula, have been cured l>y thismedicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at tiiis time. CANCER. An interesting case cured hy Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ' ■ed in the rfeht breast of Airs. Phoebe, wife of Peter St retch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined l»y many Physicians, am! was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it w ere used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr, John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the j proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. 'I lie , whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced hy j all present a cancer of the most malignant c-harac ler. In about three months, aftereiiduring ineredi- : ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to gel about again. Sbe remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as m deed it had been for several years before. In the j spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the ■ part formerly occupied hy the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so ) painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands tm- j dertlie right arm were enlarged; and scirrflus, and a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now j arrest the disease. Indeed her w hole-body appear- i ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary eon sumption. The experiment was now made with | this Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradu ally, hut steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hy driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever geared afterwards; and her general health, w hich bad been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effectually and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen eases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer tutd cancerous tumours, but he has not room hereto record there. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge,N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side, of her w ind pipe, as large as the half of an orange, w hich w as cured by using this Alterative Jbr about four months. Miss R S , South Fourth -street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of (he throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bom:, and extended around on each side of her nock to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de formity. It commenced growing when she was but five years old. and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which site took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. They are also most excellent for cholera morbus, habitual constipation, sea-sick ness, nausea, proceeding from whatever cause. Jn cases of general debility, it has proved one of the best remedies, and is there fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary gentlemen, students, and others of sedentary habits. Taken in small doses frequently through the day, they have checked the most violent diarrhoea, arid likewise been administered with the happieste fleet cholera infantum. In all the foregoing complaints, these Bitters will he found effectual if persisted in, and taken accord ing to the directions which accompany each bottle. And although it has been testified by several that j they are excellent in many others,yet in none other than those above enumerated, is the proprietor w ill ing to vouch for their efficacy. They were prima rily and solely intended to cure Dyspepsia.
