This preparation has been used in numerous cases of Scrofula. King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deci led success. skin Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane- | ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt i rheum, or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples,morphew and jaundiced skin. Sic. Dyspepsia aud Fiver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. Tic-l>ou!oureuz. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Kheumatisnr. This preparation has been prescribed in a great -many cases of chronic rheumaism, and in every case in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed* (.lout. - A number of cases of gout hove been cured by 'this preparation. In one of these cases, I lie man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely 7 disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to ins business, from which he had so long been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings. Tlii«medicine increases the powers of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all unnatural enlargements are reduced, it imparts j tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matte? for wh a pur pose, the general health of the patient has always ■been improved by it. *!fi conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing eases cl skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele.and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but waat of room in this sheet precludes luetr publica tion at this time. CANCER. An interesting care cured by Jayi-Cs A Iterative. (n the spring of 1831, a cancerous tinner appear ‘•ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, w ife of Peter Stretch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the- characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in huease both in size and painfulness, until all hope i<,f saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation ot eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr Join: Rhea Barton, assisted bv Dr. Redman, the .'proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The .whole and entire right breast was reinovgd, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in -spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, ,eml her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before, in the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the A-hrt formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous loiis removal. This tumor steadi ly increased fur several months, and became so painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un ilerthe right arm were enlarged: and serrhus, and a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The experiment was now made with this Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradu j ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she ‘took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and -mornin ,r with a strong solution of lodine and Ily .ffriodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and.her general health, which diad been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effectually and permanently restored. 'The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that lie could mention over a dozen rases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours,but he has not room hereto record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge. N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her wind pipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative fur about four months. Miss R S , Sooth Fourth-street, Phila delphia. was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire spaee between the chin and hreasl-bonc, and extended around on eac h side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de formity. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took •for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. If the Colleton is taken regularly and persever ingiy, which is highly import ant in stubborn cases,) they will, soon after the use of a few bottles, be i found to act on the system like a charm—imparting I vigor to the stomach, bracing tins nerves, cleans- j iug the liver, promoting digestion, increasing the I appetite,strengthening the chest and voice, reliev- | tug pains, cramps, ami stitches in the hreast. They a re also most excellent for cholera morbus, habitual const i pat ion, sea-sickness, nausea, proceeding from whatever cause, iu cases of general debility, it has proved one of the best remedies, and is there fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary gentlemen,students,and others of sedentary habits. Taken in small doses frequently through the day, they have checked the must violent diarrhoea, and likewise been administered with the happiesteffect cholera infantum. In all the foregoing complaints, these Bitters will be found effectual if persisted in, and taken accord ing to the directions which accompany each bottle. And although it has been testified by several that they are excellent iu many others, yet in none other t han those above enumerated, is th- proprietor will ing to vouch for their efficacy. They were prima rily and solely intruded to cure. Dyspepsia.
