Ll\ ERPOOL, April s.— Colton. —The sales ' since Friday amount to 7000 bags, of which 3500 •were sold to-day. The market is steady at the rates of last week. CHARLESTON, May 3 Cotton.— The Up land market on Saturday remained quiet—sales 400 bales, at previous prices, ranging from 11 a H jc. /Her—-Nothing done in this article, except a few scattered small parcels at former prices. NEW ORLEANS, April 23 .—Colton —Arrived atucelAi-5 23d instant, 13,095 bales. We had occasion to remark in our last report ihat after several days of great depression and ir regularity, the cotton Karket had assumed rather more steadiness at the close, #,s factors generally seemed disposed to await the accounts expected by the Cambria, xn preference to accepting the reduced offers of buyers. We, how ever, quoted a decline of fully fc from the rat*-s current prior to the receipt of Liverpool advices to the 21st ultimo, per Washington Irving, for all qualities below fair. On Saturday some 2500 bale> were disposed of, at about previous rates, and on Honday the sales were about 2000 bales, the greater part being in one list, which h.ui been several days under negotiation. Among buyers generally, however, there appeared to he little disposition to purchase until the arrival of the Cambria’s advices, and these not having come to hand yesterday the transactions were re stricted to some 3:M) hales, making a total of only 4300 bales for the three days, taken mostly for Eng land, the Continent .'ind the North. As regards : prices, though perhaps slightly easier in the few transactions winch have taken place, yet there seem- to lie no change sufficiently marked to justify a further reduction of our figures, which are there fore continued the same as last given. Indeed fac tors generally are very firm, and there appear- to be a disposition with all parties to await later Eu ropean accounts, which are now fully due. The arrivals have been rather large again during the past three days, a further fleet of some fifteen flat boats bavinz reached our lauding from Mississippi and North Alabama. Cotton. —We left the mar ; ket, seven days in rather an unsettled condi tion, just after the receipt ofthe European advices, per Washington Irving. W ednesday and Thurs day there was some little inquiry, and some buy ing to complete cargoes. From that time till yes- | terday, all parties seemed to have retired, await- , ing the Cambria’s news, whi- li vva- due, with or dinary dispatch, about Saturday last. In truth ; J during several days past there was no market, the . i few transactions that occurred having been in { I small parcels, w here factors were either compelled \ or instructed to sell, or where brokers had nnlim- | ited or discretionary orders to fill. Yesterday, i however, alter the receipt of the mail from the ; east, quite a brisk inquiry sprung up, caused it is i supposed by the receipt (by private communica- j j lion) of later foreign accounts. Sales were some- , wbat restricted by the unwillingness of holders to move. Respecting the nature of the accounts re ceived, whether by the Cambria at Boston, the Sarah Sands at New York, or liy some sailing pack- \ I el, we are entirely in the dark. We infer, how- | I ever, it is somewhat favorable to cotton (at least | no further decline in Liverpool, (which of itself is I favorable under the circumstances,) from the fact that buyers rather yielded to the terms of sellers, as the day wore on. Our quotations below exhibit I the closing rales of yesterday. The sales for the week fool upas follows: —on : Wednesday 1500 bales, Thursday 1000, Friday : 400, Saturday 200.
