The stimulating {tower of the ingredients com
! posing this solution is such, that h, slc'pinv the
j Seed in it, the effect is not only to accelerate the
| germination, hut to render the vegetation more
I vigorous, by its useful action as a hygroscopic;
j thi* gaseous emanations of carbonic acid, and
carbonated hydrogen, nourish the plant, and
make it more productive to the Farmer, by pre
venting rust and t he attacks of insects.
i’he numerous advantages arising from the use
| of this Steep, are—lst, that it is the direct appli
( cation of pabulum to the seed, instead of the
: ground. 2d, It supersedes all brinings, lime,
plaster, and all other troublesome operations now
i m use. 3d. It causes a much more speed, and
; hardy growth; and lastly, by maturing much
j sooner, (wc think. 10 da\s,3 it will evade Lie rust,
; and consequently, give the husbandman a more
j profitable harvest; also, the cost is moderate ,
for the barrel ot 33 to 35 gallons )

find a gr> at benefit by using .this Solution as a
steep for their Cotton >eed before planting. The
longer the Seed stand soaking the better. After
having been soaked, the Seeds must be drained
in a sieve or basket, and immediately planted,

! white oak land, and here I have overv reason to

came up theee days earlier, and grew up with as
j tonishing vigor, and has maintained a superiority
■ over the adjacent Wheat, which was brined and
j limed and seeded the same dav in land of the
1 same quality. It has constantly appeared thus
I far as if the land in which the Wheat stteeped in
I the Solution was seeded had been manured, and
! the other not; whereas the whole was dressed the
i preceding spring with barn-yard manure, &c.

! to the appearance as well as to the growth, Ac.”

| Green Volley Farm, August 27,18-46. —I have
tried your solution, lasi fall, on VViieat. 1 sowed
a piece of land of three acres, one-half the seed
soaked with the Solution, and the other without
anv soaking. One acre and a half, with the
seed soaked, gave 214 bushels Wheat, the other
one and a half acres only \ ielded 121; the Wheat
weighed 51H pounds per bushel, while that not.
soaked, only o7f. The Wheat soaked came up
nearly four days before the other, and harvested
