Mr. Seth W. Fowle.
Dear Sir: lam well aware that persons of
every age and sex, and condition in life, in every
country, have used, and been benefited by
DR. WISTAR’S BALSA VI OF WILD
CHERRY. My own lire has been saved with
it. My father’s and mother’s family were both
consumptive. My father, mother and a sister,
died with that fatal disease. For some years, I
have been predisposed to itmyself. About one yea
ago I was quite sic k fora number of weeks, con
fined to my bed when the pain in my side; would
allow me to lay. My physician pronounced my
disease Liver Complaint; my liver was very
much enlarged, I raised blood several times; the
pain in my side was so severe that the cars pass
ing in the street by the door afflicted me. 1 was
cupped, bled and had various other remedies ap
plied but all to no purpose, I got no relief; at last
my physician said he could not cure me. I ex
pected to die soon, but providentially I heard of,
and obtained a bottle of your Balsam, which re
lieved me at once. I was encouraged to perse
vere in using it until 1 took four or five bottles,
which saved my life ami cured me. My health
is now good. For Liver Complaints I believe it
is a most certain cure.

COTTON.—We have had quite a firm market
during the past week, with an upward tendency in
prices. 'Fhe sales effected, however, have been
to a limited extent, neither buyer nor seller show
ing much anxiety to operate, but in the few sales
made, sellers have had the decided advantage, and
have been able to realise prices fully ic over those
paid last week. The Sarah Sands’ advices came
to hand yesterday, being two days later than those
received per Cambria. The receipts at this point
continue light, with no prospect of an improve
ment —during the past month they fell off 3000
hales compared with last year. The sales of the

GROCERIES. —A fair business has been trans
acted wiih the interior this week, mostly confined,
however, to supplying small country orders. The ;
stock of Groceries oh band at present is good and j
well assorted.
CORN.—iThe receipts of the, past week have
been light*—fair demand for the article hi sacks at !
75c., sacks included.
BACON. —Market pretty well supplied—re- j
ceipts of the past week light—worth Bc. the hog ;
round.
FLOUR- —Country is getting scarce, and meets ;
with ready sale at prices ranging from ssl to 6
per hid. Sales oLt lot this week of 50 bids, at the j
former price.
N’o change to notice this week in Sugar, Coffee 1
Molasses or Salt— tnarkel well supplied with all ;
the above articles.
THE UIVER —Is sufficiently high to enable I
boats lo reach the wharves, and the recent rain
w ill no doubt leave it in good navigable condition
for some lime to come. W e have no (hange to
no'ice in rales to Charleston or Savannah—but
little offering to either place.
Extract of a letter received in this city,
“LIVERPOOL, April 5. —We enclose a dnpli
cate of our letter per Cambria, which we confirm,
and to which we have nothing to add save that
our markets for Com, Flour and Cotton are steady
at previous prices, with a fair business doing in
each, particularly as this is a hulyday week. No
later direct arrival from the United Slates, hut via
Havre advices to the 10th ult. have come to hand
per Baltimore, front Niw York. Rice without
change.”
LIVERPOOL. April 3. —Cotton —The import of
the week is 26,566 bags, namely, 24,462 from the
United States, 320 from Brazil, and i 784 from
Bombay. The sales of the week are 30,800 bags,
of w hich there are taken on speculation 8400 A
nierican, SUU Egyptian, and 700 Surat; and for ex
port 2500 American, 100 Pernambuco, 40 Egyp
tian and 460 Surat. The prices of Sea Island are
advanced id per lb, and of Egyptian id per lb;
those of inferior and middling quality of American
Cotton are advanced id per lb.
Monday, April 5. —There is no change inti*
temper of the market to-day. Sales about 3.500
bales, all to the trade, and without any farther de
pression since the close of last week.
April 5 —The salessince Friday amount to 7000
bags, of which 3560 are sold to-day. The market
is steady at the rales of last week. Arrived since
Fridav, six vc-sels from the United Slates, two
from Brazil, and one from Bombay.
LIVERPOOL, April s— Provisions.— —The
prices of Beef, Pork, Hams and Lard are uiialter
| ed, hot there is a steady demand for those articles,
w ithout any change in prices.
MANCHESTER. April s.— Cotton.— ln our
opening remarks we have already adverted to the
sudden reaeti,»n in the Liverpool market. Specu
lation (iuring the past ten days has been rife, and
•the rales ot American have advanced about Id
Derlb from the lowest point. Yesterday, howev
ler, there was a quieter market, and the upward
tendency appears to liwve been checked. Ameri
can descriptions are about 2id per lb higher than
last year at this time, and Brazils about lid. The
imports continue, steadily lo increase, more than
could well he expected in the dearth of present
means of transit hither, but the stocks hel 1 both
by importers ami consumers, not vt ithslandit*g short
time, show a vast deficiency as compared with
those of last year. Until the arrivals shall come
forward more freely, we cannot expect an impor
tant decline in the rates of cotton.
HAVRE, April 3, evening—Our Cotton mar
ket has relapsed into a very dull state and prices
have again a downward tendency. The demand
for consumption is very restricted. Stock, Amer
ican, 53,700 bales. Other kinds, 800 bales. Total
54,500 bales.
