W iierf.as the Third Section of the Second Arti cle of the Constitution of this State reads in the following words, to wit; —No person shall be el igible to the office of Governor who shall not have been a citizen of the I nited States twelve years, and an inhabitant of this State six years, and who has not attnined to the age of thirty years, and who does not possess five hundred acres of land in his own right within this? Slate, and other property to the amount of four thou sand dollars, and whose estate shall not on a rea sonable estimation, be competent to the dis charge of his just debts over and above that sum —and whereas said property qualification is in consisteni with the genius of our institutions, and the popular spirit of this age — Section 1. Be it enacted hy the Senate and House of Representatives of the Slate of Georgia in General Assembly met and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That so soon n> this Act shall have passed, agreeable to the require ments of the Constitution, the following shall be adopted in lien ofthe Section above recited, (to wit:) —No person shall be eligible to the office of Governor who shall not have been a citizen ofthe United Stales twelve years and an inhabitant of this State six years, and who hath not attained the age of thirty-years. Sparta, February loth, 18 17.—This is to cer tify, that 1 have owned one ot Mr. Oglesby’s im proved cotton gins for two years, and can safely recommend his gins for two reasons. the first, that they do not cut the lint or staple as other gins. The next, 1 consider them the most dura ble gins that I have ever used. M. G. HARRIS. February 20th, 1847.—We do certify, that we have used for the last two years M r. G. T. Yours very respectfully, F. Mean 1 wither. April 24th, 1347. Oglethorpe County, April 22, 1847. I have used for ihe last three years a machine that was made by S. R. Crenshaw, of Craw ford vilie. I consider it one of the best Gins 1 have ever seen. 'Two small mules will gin, with a 1 great deal of ease, three bales per day, and 1 do not i think there is a gin in Georgia that can excel it in making fine cotton. In fact, 51 r. Crenshaw has sold a great many gins in this county and Elbert, and 1 ihink that every man who has purchased is perfectly satisfied. All of his gins which have been sold 111 tins county, and ilicy are not a lew, run light, pick fast, and what is heller than all, w ben ihe cotton is carried to market, it sells for the very highest price.
