Carbuncles d'C-, Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint, Kervuus Diseases, Dropsical Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and diseases originating from a depraved or Impure fct.ite of the Blood or other fluids of the body. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that lie lias not ofie red this preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after twelve years’ experience had manifested its great superiority over every other article of the hind and he now recommends it with confidence, tuny believing rhiit the above Cfiinbiiuinon ot medicine will effectually eradicate from the system a class of disease some ot which have heretofore beent.ou eidcred incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of disease and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the bicod. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty w e ;i defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mor*, and in every case but one with perfect and entiie success. Bronchoccle or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) lie has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove tire disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The.success he has met with ir. curing hroncho ceie and cancerous affections lias convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may he removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not w isii to he understood as say ing that they can he cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason fur believing that this prepara tion will not only « ure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from whhh that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that ofscTofula emanate. Scrofula—King’s l.vll. This preparation has been used in numerous rases ofScrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deci ed success. Skin Diseases. Ilg has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in curing sail rheum, or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, murphevv and jaundiced skin, &,c. Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. It bas been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. Tic-Douloareuz. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rheumaisni, and in every ra?e in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed’ Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation, in one ol these rases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, ami for five months immediately previous to his taking* the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, lie was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his hiisine>s, from which he had bo long been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings, This medicine increases the powers of digestion, exrites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by xviiich watery or calcareous depositions, and all unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts lone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wardering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken fur some time, no matter for wh t pur pose, the general health of the patient ha* always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of t lie most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele, and scrotnla, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; hut want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this little. CANCER. An interesting case enrol by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of I S3l, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the riant breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wile of Peter Flretch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all a* cancerous, ami besides bore ail the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation ol eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and ttvo other medical gent’emen. The whole and entire right breast was remo"H, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, end her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the epringof 1837, upwards of five years after herhieast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to it* removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and a hard, irregular, and at limes painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole hodyappear ed to he a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The experiment was now made with this Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses verygradu ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hy driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased allo - gather, and the tumonrsvvelled out at the base, ami became soft, and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effec uaily and permanently restored. The proprietor s in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that lie could mention over a dozen cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room hereto record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., bad a goitrous tumour on ihc left side of her wind pipe, a' large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. 3li«s R—— S .South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space- between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced aw ful de fonnity. It commenced growing when .-he was but live years old. and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at Aberty to give her name in print, but will refer per lotc to h**r. For sale by WM. K. KITCHEN, ly ‘2 3ole Agent for Georgia. PATENT MEDICINES. not n r. MUST tlm-e be who have Pulmonary Consumption, or any affection of the Lungs. Liver or Chest, after reading ihc following letter, Just received from a ini st respectable inhabitant of Westchester County New York, T vrrytovv.v, Ang.'l, U Q 44. Dear Doctor—li is difficult to find w ords to expre.-s the gratitude which I feel towards yon for the interest you have tak n to relieve me in my distress. In the year H-i 2 1 contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smell very had. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a cough I tried a few boxes of them, lint they had not the leasteff’Cton me. 1 then called in the bestphysician in the place, whoa tended me a few months, but without su • cess; I then saw an adverti-ement in one of the city pepersof Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, ol which 1 pur based three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nas sau streets, but 1 could not perceive t ! e least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to mo. Shortly after u-ing it 1 commenced raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and confined to ihc liou.-e for three months, during which time 1 lost my appetiie and f -ll away very fast; I was then ind red toconsult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no good. I again became worse, ai d was confined to the house alllast winter and spring, and 1 gave up all hope of ever getting any better, ns I again raised blood nnd m v cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast and under the shoulder blade. Mv friends now gave up all hopeof mv recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF I.IVERWORT being good for consumption, but I was like many oth ws, ■■ui was fearful that it might be a regu lar humbug; 1 however finally consented to trv it, u« 1 thought It could make mo no worse. My brother then purchased a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Istill keep on taking it and find great benefit from if—the p thi in mv breast is entire ly go n. and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in streng li. I wo'ilil tiierefore advise all who have any affec iouof the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to bet an best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver.
