Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to express the gratitude w hich 1 fee! Towards yon for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress. Having he ird that Bh<' man’s Lozenges were good for a cough I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least eIV a t on me. I then called in the he-tphysieian in the place, who attended me a few months, but without .-te’ coss; 1 thifei saw an advertisement in one of Tito city p.ipersof WDtar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three bottles, at tbecorner of Fulton and Nas sau streets, but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after n-ing u 1 commenced i ai-ing blood in large quantities; I Was taken down sick and confined to the house for three months, during which time 1 lost my appetite and fell away very fast; 1 was then induced to consult Dr. Curtisof New York, (one of the b 'st physician.- in the city,) but he could do nio no good, I again became worse, and was confined to the house a) Hast winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as 1 again raised blood and m v rough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast nnd under the shoulder bladts Mv friends now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was j ihelast. CANCER. An interesting case rand, by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of.Ylrs. IMuehe, w i[e of J’eler Stretch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, , and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope ' of saving her life, but by a painful operation, w as abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Rarlon, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pionounced by all present a cancer of tiie most maiigmuit charac ter. In about three mouths, afterenduring incredi hie sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again, the remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly had, as in deed it had been for several years before. In tlie spring of 1537, upwards of live years after her hi east had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by tiie nipple of the right breast. pre\ ions to its removal. 'l’his tumor steadi lv increased for several mouths, and became so painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; find scirrhus, and a hard, irregular, and at limes painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her w hole body appear- I ed to he a mass of disease. Her case was consid | ered hopeless. She was of a verv scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The expo nuent was now made with this Alterative. It was at lirst given in small doses, three times a day, an 1 the doses very gradu ally. hut steadily increased daily, as long as she took it. w luch was about six months, and the s]Hn over and *»und the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of iodine ami Hv driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in siz ■ for about six weeks, and was at times I very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and tin' tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually’decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in iter left breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or .scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which laid been so had for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was etfcctually and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast , and those who choose may examine it. iie would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he lias not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge. N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her wind pipe, a- large as the half <-f an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four lUOiil he yj;, s K . S . South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured ol an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, aud fn m her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de formity. It commenced growing when she was but five years old. and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which tiuie she commenced using this Alterative, winch she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en i largeiiu nt; and sne has now as smooth and pretty u neck as <an bo found.
