The Democrats of Burke county are requested to meet at Wayneshoto, on the first Tuesday in June, to appoint Delegates to attend the Conven tion, to be held at Mitledgeville, on the fourth Monday in June. There is no scarcity of any article that we hear of and the stocks of our merchants were never belter at this season of the year. CORN.—This article is looking np again. There has been a good enquiry for it at improved prices, but the stock being light, the sales have been limil •ed and confined mostly to smalt parcels in sacks at 75 cents,sacks included. FLOUR—AIso has an upward tendency, and the-ales made this week, generally small parcels. _ai £5 per bid.—stock light, demand fair. A lot ol good, in merchantable condition, would readily bring, we believe, sf> 50 per hhl. while there are one or two lots on the market, equal to any north ern, that is held at 37. B ACON. —There has been a good demand for the article at former prices, Bc. the hog round, hnt the receipts have been light and prices have de cidedly an upward tendency. SALT.—At the present moment there is a fair Mock on hand, but prices are looking up. We understand a sale has- been made this week oi about 2000 bushels loose at 10 cents fter bushel.— Loose is retailing from store at 45 cents, and sacks at 31,50 a 1,62. COFFEE.—Good stuck on hand, principal!} Rio. Sales this week of about 150 bags at BJc. \v> quote 84 a 9 cents per lb. at wholesale and 94 a 10 by retail. MOLASSES.—Fair stock of Cuba and New Or leans, but not much demand at the present mo ment. Cuba is held at 28 a 30c. from store, and New Orleans at 40 a 43, according to quality and qnamiiy. SUGARS.—Stock of all descriptions good. No large sales to report this week. We quote Musco vado 8 a 10; Porto Rico and St. Croix 9 a 9i; New Orleans 3 a 9. EXCHANGE.—Onr Banks are now selling Sight Checks on Northern cities at 1 per cent, prem. *treliase sight a five days Sight Checks on New York at i prem. —hut there is very little offering—6o day bills, la I. 4 HEIGHTS.— We have no change to notice in the rates to cither Savannah or Charleston —nor is there much Cotton offering to either place.
