CHER AW, May 25.— Cotton —Our receipts have been very light during the past week, not amounting to more than *2OO hales. Sales since tlie steamer s accounts, have been mostly at 10J to Ilf. COLUMBIA, May 2li.— Co«<m.— The recent adv ices from Europe have caused a tunher de cline in the Cotton market. There is at present v* ry little doing— supplies fight and sales dull. We quote as extremes !H all cents. CHARLESTON.May 27.— Cotton.— The Up land market yesterday nearly eanae to a complete stand. The sales amounted to only 47 hales, of which 30 bales at Hi, and 17 bales, a fancy lot, at 12 cents. Hire. —The Rice market also was heavy and wabout buyers at the high rates still asked by hold ers. Sales only about. Tobbls at MACON, May 25.— Cotton. — I There is scarcely any thing doing in Colton here at present. 1 lie quantity ottering since the receipt of the last steam er’s accounts, which was unfavorable, has hardly been sufficient to establish pri.es. We omit our figures until we know what to make them. The following is the weekly receipts : Received at Warehouses, ]G3 3lacon A; Western Rail Road, 13 176 COLUMBUS, 3lay 25.—There is hut little do ing in the Colton market, and to all appearances the business of the season is about drawing to a dose. In our last account we noticed a decline from Ia 1 cent. Since then there has been few operations, and the steamers accounts received here on Saturday, showing a decline of 1 a 4Jnt» had a further tendency to depress I lie market. The market is so unsettled that we omit quotations. NEW ORLEANS, May 22. Cotton.--A\- rived since tiie 18th instant. 3379 bales. Cleared in the same time 4804 bales—making a reduction in stock of 1425 bales, and leaving on band, in clusive of all on shipboard not cleared on the 21st instant, a stock of 193,160 bales. Our last report left the Cotton market at a complete stand, not a single sale having occurred on Tuesday; nor scarcely any, indeed, for three days previous; and so entirely unsettled and par alyzed was the market that we felt constrained to omit quotations in two successive publications a circumstance having no precedent within our recollection. As we have already explained, this state ofthings was mainly produced by the dis appointment resulting from the less favorable tenor of the private advices by the Caledonia, coupled with a sudden pressure in the money market, which checked speculative movements, and caused buyers generally to retire, or to reduce their offers so low that holders were unwilling to meet them. On Wednesday there was little or nothing done, only some two or three lots, amount ing to about 500 bales, having been disposed 01, at irregular prices, but decidedly in favor ol buy ers. On Thursday, the pressure continuing, • -m- —■—»" nr*mmmnm»• -rw immrs*. inuuniwa an i very few buyers manifesting a disposition to ! enter the market at all, holders were compelled to ■ #ve_ way still further, and about 1500 bales changed hands, the greater part in one list, at rates establishing a decline ut tuliy J a cent from the extreme prices paid on 1 hursday and Friday previous, under the speculative excitement pro duced by the telegraphic summary of the Caledo nia’s advices, and [ cent below the rates which vv< re current before receipt of the said summary. Vesterdav there appeared to tie a little more en quiry, but we could only learn ol sales ot about hOOvi bales, at toe decline above stated, which has taken effect more particularly on the Middling qualities, and we have ventured to arrange a scale us quotations which will repre.-ent us accurately as circumstances will permit tiie present position • of the market. The total sab’s ot the week sum ! up only 5400 bales, of which 5100 bales were dis used of within the post three days taken princi- | pally for England and the North. NK VV -ORLEANS CLASSIFICx FI OX.
