MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consumption, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or Chest, Ife-after reading the following letter, just received from a Prniost respectable inhabitant of Westchester County New York. Tarrytown, Aug. 9, IS-14. Dear Doctor —It is difficult to find words to express the gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you have, taken to relievo me in my distress. In the year j 1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few mouths after I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a i cough I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. I then called in the best physician in the place, who attended me a few months, but without sue ccss; I then saw an advertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three bottles, ut thecorner of Fulton and Nas sau streets, but 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, ou the coutrary I think it was a great in jury to me. {shortly after using it I commenced raising blood in .large quantities ; 1 was taken down sick and confined’to the house for three months, during which time 1 lost my appetiie and fell away very fast; 1 was { then induced toconsult Dr. Curl is of New York, (one of I the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no i good, I again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast and under the shoulder blade. Mv friends now gave up all hoped' my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time 1 beard of your BA J, 9AM OF LIVERWORT being good for consumption, but I was like many hors, and was fearful that it might be a regu lar humhtk*; 1 however finally consented to trv it, as I thought it could make me no worse. My brother then ( purchased abotllc of it at 375 Bowery, N. V. and I com menced taking it, and by the lime 1 had used one bottle full 1 could sleep all night, and in the morning I had au i appotitefor my breakfast. Istill keep on taking it and | find great benefit from it—the pain in m v breast is entire ly gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in atreugth. I would therefore advise all who have any affection of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to bethe best remedy in existence for diseases of ihe Lmur or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement re latives your valuable medicine, let i.m call on me, and I will convince them of its virtue. Yoursrespeclfully, DE REVERE. MY DEPILATORY POWDER has been found highly beneficial and of great use to ladies who I have been afflicted with superfluous bnr, principally when its growth has been confined to the upper lip and side of the face, giving a masculine turn to the whole features. When used with proper care, and according to the directions, it will be found to be a great addition to the toilet, as the use of any sharp instrument is entirely ■voided, and the hair is removed in five or ten minutes after its application. This composition is infallible, and warranted to remove superfluous hair. After numerous trials 1 have received certificates of success which cannot be contested. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re : spectfnliy assure tiie public that lie has not offered I this preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after twelve years’ experience had manifested its great superiority over every other article of the kind.— and he now recommends it with confidence, lully believing that the above combination of medicine 1 will ellectnally eradicate from the system a class ! of disease some of which have heretofore been con * sidered incurable. He lias prescribed it in almost every variety of disease and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of tbe glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer ami Cancerous Tumors. lie has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mor?;, and in every case but otic with perfect and entire success, Uronchocele or C.oitre, (Swelled Neck.) He. has prescribed it in over a hundred rases of i goitre, and it lias never failed in a single instance . to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case offadure. All were cured. The success he has met with i s curing bfoncho | cele and cancerous affections lias convinced him that t hese dangerous and horrible diseases may be | removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not w ish to be understood as say | ing that tbey can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty} and further, that he has good reason for believing licit this prepara tion will not only « nre these diseases w hen formed, hut that it destroys the, virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar ! class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate. Scrofula —King’s Evil. This preparation lias been used in numerous cases of Scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always w ith the most deci led success. Skin Diseases. CANCER. Am interesting rase cured by Jayne's Alterative, In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of.Mrs. I’hocbe, wile of Feler Stretch, of Salem, N. J. It wasexamined by many physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all Hope oi saving her life, but by a painful operation, was i abandoned, w hich, after a consultation ol eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. J.dm Rhea Barton, assisted bv Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire riirlit breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of tiie most malignant cliarac i ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. »81ie remained feeble, I and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in- | deed it had been for several years before. In tlie j spring of 1837, upwards of live years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right ! breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so > painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands on- j der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and j a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap- ! peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear ed to be a mass of disease. Her cas€ was consid- I ered hopeless, bdie was of a very scrofulous habit, both Iter parents having died of Pulmonary con l sumption. The experiment was now made with this Alterative, ll was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradu ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took if, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning w ith a strong solution of lodine and Hy driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at limes very painful. w lie/MPie pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft- and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards;and hergeneral health, which had been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effectually and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative 1 has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he \ has not room hereto record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her wind pipe, a?- large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Mks R S* .South Fourth-street, Phila delphia. was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the ! chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced aw ful de formity. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and coulinued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at w hich time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The propriet or is not at iberty to give her name in print, but will refer jier son<! to her. For sale bv WM, K.
