Rislev and his family last evening, at tea at Mr,
Polk s residence. Ihe Professor lias a rich fund
of anecdote. He related one incident 100 good
to be lost When he was in Venice, an Ameri

‘ \ ou are an American, sir’]” said the English- ,
man. ‘4 reckon i am,” returned the captain. J
‘ You have the name of being good warriors'?' 5 ‘
‘ h es, says the Yankee, ‘we shoot prettly well. 5 :
‘‘But how is it you are anxious to make peace

Professor, Yankee like, answered bv asking an- j

Dr. J ivne--Dear Sir; 1 feci bound to the af
flicted t » givepubUc.ity to the extraordinary effects
of your valuable medicine.
i have suffered for several years past with Liver j
Complaint, and the train of diseases which follow
---a complete prostration of the s\ stem—so that it
was wbh grioat difficulty I could walk, and at
times I was confined to mv room. To add to my
misery, a Scrofulous allection appeared in my i
throat, witii Rheu natistn in my arms, so that 1
could not raise my right aim to my head. In the ;
hottest weather my feet and hands would aeh, |
with the cold, and respiration had almost ccast d i
1 now became afflicted with a dry hoarse coti c b, ,
and gave up all Inpes of ever getting well. Iliad
night sweats, ami got little or no sleep, with ;
frightful dreams and morbid head ache. 1 seemed ;
to be bordering on INSANT TV, and was dr
nieil all study or mental exercise. I could not
read a smalt paragraph in a newspaper w ithout
great difficulty. 1 had great soreness in ray
fluoaiach, which caused it to swell so much that 1
was unable to lie down, or even recline, but had
to he propped up in a chair.
I had the advice of some eminent physicians,
anti tried nearly all the remedies used in sueii
cases, but continued to grow worse, and it appear
ed as though a speedy dissolution was taking
place.
1 now heard of your medicines, and determined
to try your Sanative Tills, and to my surprise t ie j
soreness left me, so that 1 could walk about the j
house. I continued to improve from that time. I
Shortly alter my wife called at your store, and
obtained a bottle of your Alterative.
After taking which and the Tills for three ;
weeks, there was a decided change tor the better, i
so that when 1 called upon you, you said that I
wou'd get well, and that your Alterative would
cure me effectually. With no hopes, however,
of getting well, I still continued taking your
Alterative, until 1 had taken the fourth bottle,
when there was a sudden change in my whole |
system,as though Iliad got rid of suite great ;
burthen, and I could d r aw my breath as usual, i
M v nerves gradually became strong, and my ap
petite returned.
It has been about four months since I com
menced taking your Medicines, and at this time i
nearly every vestige of disease is eradicated from
my system. lam as active, and nearly as strong,
as at any period of my life. I have now gained ;
nine pounds in two months.
I have good reus >n to believe that the use of i
your valuable medicine, by the blessing of God
bus saved me from a premature grave.
