Kicliiuond Superior Court—June Trim. presentments of the gr .nd jury. The Grand Jury for the first week of the June Term of the Superior Court for the County of Richmond, bag leave to rep >rt to the Court th »t th y have, through their committe-s, made all the exjuiiuatioiis required of then) andoOTar the following present omnia for the considera tion aud reco mneudation of the Court: Tils Committee app. inte 1 to examine into the condi tion oftd ■ Pour House and its in nates report, that they Cud twelve paupers in the institution, ten adults ami two children. One of the paupers, a fc.iule l.ui ttic, your Committee think should (>e transferred to the r-J(.»tc Ary lurn for such persons, whore means are used to restore them to reason, and from the limited time a) towed, the ex amination was not us full and complete as was desirable; but we are, however, of opinion from t e best sources < J uiforiaatiun before us, that their situation is as comforta ble as the amount allow ed will justify, and vve have no duubt hut thu the wants of this unfortunate class of per suns are much better provid d for at the institution than when they are the immediate recipients of the money themselves; hence we respectfully recommend to the Court having authority, to require of every applicant (save ihose who h ive families or who from their infirm and crippled condition require immediate and coiirtmir personal supervision) to enter the institution as affording better aaid more constant support than if given directly to them. It is all important w hen there is a system (and w ; believe the Poor House a good one) that it should be strictly adhered to. The Committee report that the root of the Poor House needs repairs aud request that, it be immediately attended to. The Committee appointed to examine the Jail report; fit it they have performed that duty, and find white and seven black per<o s there at the present lime, who arc comfortably provided for by the Jailor. Mr. Broome, all the ipartmouts are in a cleauly condition; soineoftbe Gutters need repairs, aud slu uld he attended to iuuai di ately. The Committee on Roads report, that from their per sonal observation, as well as from information elicited from other sources, the public Roads are generally in good order ami condition, except on the new Miiledgcviiie Road at the Depot of the Georgia Hail Road at Del-Air, where obstructions are imposed by piles of wood an 1 other causes placed there by the Georgia Rail Road Company, and recommend that the Inferior Court have * <id obstructions removed at the co*l of those w ho placed them there. VVc furthermore highly approve of the plan nt present pursm dby the Inferior Court in repairing he Roads, auJ recommend its continuance both on the score of economy audits adaptation to the situation of our high ways. The Commute* ou the Clerk’s OlTiee, arc pleased to re_ portlh it they have examined the Books and Papers i f the Cl o k oi the Superior and Inferior Courts, and tlia th -y find them neatly kept and in a business like maiiuert Tney further report, that through the reinissuess of some, of theo'Bcers of the Court, the Presentment made by the Grand Jury of tho last Term, for one of the week’s was uo: entered in the Books, the same having been mislaid. i The Committee on the County Treasurer, leponslhat the Treasury accounts were examined in January, and that the Treasurer repot ts that the Law n-quit cs his ac counts to be examined only once a year. The Grand Jury, also reports that the Tax Collector, i having delayed bringing his insolvent List before the Jury until to-day, the Jury request that the Judge will order the examination of the same to the Jury of the next w eck.
