hyspepsia and Liver Complaint. Nervous Diseases,
firopsieal Swellings, Constitutional Disorders ami
diseases originating from a depraved or Impure
irtate of the Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public that he lias’not offered
this preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion, and close and rigid study, nor until alter
twelve years’experience had manifested its great
superiority over every other article of the kind
and he now recommends it with confidence, fully
lielieviug that the above combination of medicine j
will effectually eradicate from the system a Hass i
of disease some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
He has prescribed it in almost every variety of j
disease and with unparalleled success, especially j
in cutanedtts affections, cancerous, scrofulous and ;
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating Imm
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri
ty of the blood.
Cancer ami Cancerous Tumors.
He has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and in every case but one with perfect and
entire success.
Dronchocelc or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.J
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of
coitre, ami it has mover failed in a single instance
to completely remove ihc disease. ISot a solitary
case of failure. All werecured.
The success he has met with in curing bronrho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as Fever and i
Ague. He dues not wish to be understood as say- i
ing that they ran he cured as soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty; and furl her, that
he has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only t ure these diseases when formed,
hut that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well asthat ofscrofulaemanale.
Scrofula—King’s Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous cases
of Scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings,
and always with the most deci led success.
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it in a great variety of culanc
ens affections, and found it successful in curing salt
rheum j or tett«r, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew
and jaundiced skin, &c.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Tic-Douloureux*
It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
KUenmaUsm*
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
Watty Cases of chronic rheinnai m, and in every
Casein which it was used ur. ;1 the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease u as removed ’
Gout.
A mtmbCrof cases of gout have been cured 1 v
this preparation. In one of these Cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen
years as to entirely disable him from business, and
for five months immediately previous to his taking
the Alterative he had been confined to his room;
hut before he had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from which tie had so long
beet! excluded by his afflictions.
Dropsical Swellings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion,
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
Which watery or calcareous depositions, and all
Unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
rick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wardering j
pains and nervoua affections.
In fact, in every case where tlie medicine has
been weteeu for some time, no matter for u h ,t pur
pose, the genera! health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
nf the most astonishing eases of skin diseases, can
par, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured Oy
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; hut
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
ion at this lime.
An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative.
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem, N. J. it was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
nud besides bore all the characteristic marks of !
one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope i
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation ot eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted bv Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The 1
whole and entire right breast was removed, and as- 1
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by }
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac- |
ter. In about three months, after enduring iticredi :
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. Bhe remained feeble, |
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it hud been for several years before, in the i
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a painful turner made its ap- :
pearance on the right side, immediately over the j
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became -o
painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands nn
derthe rightarm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
*. hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease- Indeed her whole body appear
ed to be a mass of disease.. Her case was con.-id
e red hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
both her parents having died of f’uimonarv con
sumption. The experiment was now made with
this Alterative. It was at first given in small
doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradu
ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she
took it, which was about six months, and the skin
r and around the tumour was wet night and
” '<* with « strong solution Os lodine and fTy
Potash. The tumour continued increas
ze for about six weeks, and was at times
gainful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto
gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and
became soft, and then began to diminish, and con • j
tinned gradually decreasing until every vestige of
disease was removed. The tumour in her left-1
breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis
persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever
appeared afterwards; ami her general health, which
had been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a j
burthen, was effectually and permanently restored, j
The proprietor is in possession of the. diseased
breast, and those who choose may examine it. He 1
would also say that he could mention over a dozen
cases equally interesting, wherein hie Alterative
has subdued cancerand canceroustumours,but he
has not room hereto record them.
•* Mrs, Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge. N. J.,
ltd a goitrous tumour on the left side of her wind- |
pipe.aalargc as the half of an orange, which was j
cured by using this Alterative for about four
months.
Miss R S .South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and hreast-bonc, and extended around on
each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from
her ears to her shoulders, and produced aw ful de |
fortuity. It commenced growing when she was
but five years old, and continued gradually to in
crease until she was nineteen, at which time site
commenced using this Alterative, w hich she took l
for seven months, which entirely reduced the en
largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty
a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at
•iberty to give her name in print, but will refer per
sons to her.

NOTICE TO COTTON PLANTERS.
S\\ ILL say to the cotton p!a titers of Georgia and
South i arolina. I hive taken the shop form
erly occupied by 8. R. Grenshaw. fur the purpose
of manufacturing COTTON GINS, and would
also inform them that I have engaged Mr. Cren
shaw, who will superintend the manufacturing of
| them. My trins shall he made of the best ma
i terials, ami 1 can say with propriety they are the
cheapest gins sold in the Southern Slates, taking
the workmanship, in consideration. 1 will war
rant my gins to make cotton equal to any made on
j any other gins in the Southern States, giving the
j true staple of the cotton and making it perfectly
1 free of knap and clear of moats. M v gins will he
delivered at the purchaser's residence, free oi
I charge and warranted to give ample satisfaction. 1
All orders addressed to the subscriber will meet j
j with prompt-attention; repairing done in good style
I and at short notice. All did gins of 10 inch saws
i 1 will repair and put them on improved principles,
I and also warrant them to make ns good cotton as j
any of the improved gins, and at a much less cost *(
than a new gin. J. D. HA3IMACK.

I will say to the planters who may favor Mr.
Hammock with their patronage 1 w ill exert all the
ability 1 have in superintending the simp; and j
every gni sent from the shop shall he in complete

enca>in the business, I know the gins cannot lie
surpassed, although agents from other shops have
I resorted to'the contemptible practice of slandering j
: me and saying my gins have prostrated me, though
I it is not true, in foil confirmation of what 1 say,
; I offer a few certificates man gentl -iuen who

D ar Sir: I have used the Gin bought of you
| for two years and I very cheerfully recommend it
to the Cotton planter- of Oglethorpe and other
counims ofGeorgia. It turns off' sufficiently fist
to make good Colton—it being 50 saws—will throw
out about 800 lb. of lint a day. The quality of the
Cotton lias in Augusta ranged half cent higher at
each of my sales than other sales of those days, and
it has been pronounced by those considered com
petent to judge—as in no way inferior to the Cava
Gin. Yours very respectfully,
F. MeRRIAVETHER.

Oglethorpe Countv, April 22, 18J7.
I have used lor the last three years a machine
that was made by 8. H. Crenshaw, of CrawTord
viile. J consider it one of the best (fins 1 have
p\er seen. Two small mules will gin. with a !
great deal of ease, three hales per day, and 1 do not
think there is a pin in Georgia that can excel it in '
| making fine cotton. In fact, Mr. Crenshaw has
sold a ercat many gins in this county and Elbert, j
and I ttiink that every man who lias purchased is ;
perfectly satisfied. All of ids jrins which have
been sold in this county, and they are not a lew,
run light, pick fast, and what is better than all,
w hen the cotton is carried to market it sells for the
very highest price. C. 8. MerriwETHER.
Cr awfordvilli. May 4. 1847.
Mr. JD. Hammock — l certify that I bought of
S. K. Crenshaw, last year, a fortt -five saw anti- j
friction Cotton Gin, which performs well and
m ikes as good cotton as the Carver Gins, in my
opinion. F. G Rhomb.
Tin's is to certify’ that I purchased one of Mr. S.
R. Crenshaw’s improved anti friction Cotton Gins
last year, and find it to he superior to any Gin I
have ever used. 1 think it superior to the Carver
(fins. It makes superior cotton, pixing the true
i staple of the article, and gins ‘JuO lbs. of clean cot
t tun per day, and runs very light.
