THE MARRIED WOMAN’S PRIVATE MEDICAL COMPANION. By Dr. A. M. Ma u rice nu . PROFESSOR OF DISEASES OF WOMEN. [Third Edition, 18 mo. pp. 250. Price 00. j 35,000 COPIES SOLI) IN THREE MONTHS!!! j The great demand fur this most important work, (of which thousands are sold) has compelled the issue of a another edition. It is intended especi a.ly for the married, as it discloses important se crets which should be known to them particularly. Here every female can discover the causes, symp toms, and the most efficient remedies and most certain mode of cure, in every complaint to which her sex is subject. Ii is an important question to the married why it is that we behold so many married females sic kly, debilitated, and prostrated ? as abu the causes; and whether they aresusceptible of remedy. 1 hey will here find those important matters, connected w ith discoveries in medical and physiological sci- i ence, which meet this question. This work is destined to be in the hands of every wife and mother who has a regard for her own health and welfare, as well as that of her hus band. The revelations contained in its pages have al ready proved a blessing to thousands, as the innu merable letters received by the author will at test. It is of course impossible to convey more fully, in a public journal, the various subjects treated of, as they are of a nature strictly intended for the married or those contemplating marriage; neither is it necessary, since it is every one’s duty to he roine possessed of knowledge, whereby the suf- | ferings to wlnch a wife, a mother, or a sister may ■ be subject, can be obviated. CHARLESTON, July 3— Cation. —We left the Colton market at the date of our last re port in a very quiet state. Some sales nail been made just after the Cambria’s accounts, on the ‘27th uit. at about £e. above previous juices; but as the week advanced, there was an almost total so:qiensiou of operations, as buyers —we mean those few wanting Cotton—refused to go on at this improvement, while factots, on the other hand, would not meet them on lower rates; :nl thus stood affairs when we closed our enquiries on Friday; on Saturday, however, the latter class of dealers maintained the ascendency, although to a limitdd extent, and upwards of 580 bales changed hands on that day. Monday the mar ket was deserted as only twenty bales were sold. Un Tuesday a buver was out, for the purpose, as we have been informed, ofexecuting an order for foreign account, and before the day closed near 1300 bales were disposed of, as we have been as sured. at about the advance noticed above. Busi ness was brought to a stand still on Wednesday; and such mav be said to have been the case on Thursday, as the sales were confined to 27 bales. One or two parties were in the market yesterday, but sellers, so far as we know, would not accept their offers, and there was not a solitary opera tion. The transactions of the week reach 1900 bales, and the business has been confined princi pally among the better classifications, say mid dling fair to fair 111 a 11 J; and fair and fully fair a 12c. The actual sales comprise 20 hales at 91; 50 at 10*; 49 at 10*; 54 at 11; 137 «t 11*; 411 at 11 085 at 11#; and 437 bales at 12c. The sales have been local in their character, having been confined chiefly to one or lw 7 o houses; and under existing circumstances it is impossible to give quotations. Received since our last 810 bales. We have had quite a quiet market for all descriptions of Long Cotton. The transac tions have been limited to 20 bags Sea Island at prices ranging from 18 to 30c., and a few bags trained do. at 10c. Corn*— The recent accounts from Europe seem wvmrn itm—a—wirn iti to have completely unhinged our market. There has been no demand for the article.—am! we speak now solely ot country Corn—and to effect sales holders have been compelled to submit to a reduction on the decline quoted in a former re port. Several thousand bushels have changed | hands at and something under 90c., including the sacks. Received by Rail RJad 0300 bushels. There was a so a receipt ot some TOO sucks Wes tern, which sold on terms equal to about 85c. per bushel. Flour. — The Flour market continues in a very depressed state. A small lot of country has occasionally been sold during the week at jirices rainging from 5| to ji'G* per accord ing to quality, principally at Recciv d per Rail Road 430 barrels. Freights'. — Nothing up for Havre. Vessels loading for Liverpool are taking 7-lOths for Col ton in square hags'and 9-i6ths for Sea Islands. We have no change to notice in our const wise rates.
