White Swell ings Ulcers; Scrofulous, Cancerous and Indolent Tumours; Mercurial and Syphilitic Affections, Rheumatism , Gout. Scurvey, Neuralgia or 77 c- Douloureux, Cancer, Goitre or Bronchi>ctle, [swelled Neck,] Enlargements of the Bones. Joints. Glands or Ligaments or of the Ovanes. Liver. Spleeq, Kid ne.ys, tyc. All the diseases of the Shin, such as Tetter, Ringworm, Biles. Pimmes. Carbuncles fc. , ; Dqspcjisia and Liver Complaint, Nervous Diseases, i Dropsical Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and diseases originating from a depraved or impure j slate of the Blood or other fluids of the body. 'Hie proprietor of this Alterative would most re- ; spectfully assure the public that he has not offered | ttiis preparation to their notice without due reflec- ! lion, and close and rigid study, nor until after ! twelve years’ experience had manifested its great | superiority over every other article of the kind, — and he now recommends it with confidence, j believing that the above combination of medicine \ will effectually eradicate from the system a class , *nf disease some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of disease and with unparalleled success, especially \ in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from ‘obstruct ion or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. C&cnccr anil Fancerons Tumors. He. lias used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and Callcerars tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchocele or fioitre, (Swelled Neck.) He lias prescribed it in over a hundred cases of ami it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with 1:? curing broncho* ct.le and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and : Ague. He does not wish to be bfulerstood as say ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever ami Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that i he has good reason for believing that this prepara- I tion will not only « ure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that ofscrofula emanate. Scrofula—King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous cases of Scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deci ed success. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety ofcnktße cats affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum, or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew and jaundiced skin, &c. Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver cen plaml and Dyspepsia, and wilh the happiest effect. Tic-Uonloureuz. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and m every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great j 'many cases of chronic rheumaism, and in every ; rase in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed* i Lout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man | •had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking 1 ■the Alterative he had been confined to his room; ‘but before he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so loii"- I •been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings, This medicine increases the pow ers of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by w hich watery or‘calcareous depositions, and all ‘ uanatural enlargements are reduced, it imparls tone and vitality to the whole system, removing dick ami morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous ass ections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no mallet fw wh ;t pur pose, the general health of the patient lias always been improved by it. Jn conclusion, the proprietor would say thatsome of the. most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, brunchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by •this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but -want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. CANCER. An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. ' In ihe spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear- ! ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined by many •Physicians, and .was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to 4tj «rease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of savihg her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation ofeminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, as-dsted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The j whole and entire right breast was remo-'ed, and as- , ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by j all present a cancer of the most malignant ctiarac- i ler. In about three months, after enduring imrexH 1 hie sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in i spirit, to get about again. SBlie remained feeble, | and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her hi east had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap- ! pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increas-ed for several months, and became so painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, anil a hard, irregular, and at times painful -tumour, ap- ! peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless, tflie was of a very scrofulous habit, i both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The experiment was now made with this Alterative. It was at first given in small : doses, three limes a day, ami the doses very gradu- | ally, hut steadily increased daily, as long as she ! took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning w ith a strong solution of lodine and fly driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when tlie pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumourswelled out at the base, and became soft and then began to diminish, and con tinned gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in her left breast, and those m her rig lit axilla were also dis- j parsed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, winch h td been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effec ually and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He I would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancerand canceroustumours, but he has not room hereto record them. ** Mrs, Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., ud a goitrous tumour on the left side of her wind pipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R—— S—— .South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de fortuity, It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at iberty to give her name in print, but will refer per sons to her. For sale by WM. K. KITCHEN, «ep 28 ly 2 Sole Agent for Georgia. DR. Ll’ ROY’S VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS. My gins shall be made of the best ma terials, and I can say with propriety they are the cheapest gins sold in the Southern States, taking I the workmanship in consideration. I will war rant my gins to make cotton equal to any made on any oilier gins in the Southern Stales, giving the I true staple ot the cotmn and making it perfectly ! I free of knap and clear of moats. My gins will be delivered at the purchaser’s residence free of i charge and warranted to give an pie satisfaction. | All orders addressed to the subscriber will meet I with prompt attention; repairing done in good style and. at. short notice. All old gins of 10 inch saws j 1 will repair and put them on improved principles, i and aiso warrant them to make as good cotton as ! any of the improved gins, and at a much less cost j than a new gin. J. D. iiAMMACiv. ! Crawfordviile, Ga., May 4. 1 will say to the planters who may favor 3fr, j H-dinmack with their patronage I w ill exert all the ability I have in superintending the shop; and | every gin sent from the shop shall be in complete | order, and warranted to be the cheapest gins ever 1 offered to the public: and from my long expert ence in the business, 1 know the gins cannot lie surpassed, although agents from oilier shops have resorted to the contemptible practice of slandering me and saying my gins have prostrated me. though it is not true. In full confirmation of whall say* I offer a few certificates hum gentlemen win# ha' : <- used my gins and could furnish many more of this kind, ii require . S. R. Crenshaw. Dear Sir; I have used the Gin bought of you for two years and I very cheerfully recommend it to the Cotton planters of Oglethorpe and other counties of (Georgia. It turns off sufficiently fast tp make good Cotton —it being 50 saws—w ill throw out about 000 il>. of lint a day. The quality of the Cotton basin Augusta ranged half cent higher at each of my sales than other sales of those days, and it has been pronounced by those considered com petent to judge—-.is in no way inferior to the Cava Gin. Vuurs very respectfully, F. MSRIt Hv ETHER. April 24th, 1847. . Oglethorpe C oust.?, April 22, 1847. I havfc used for the last three years a machine that was made by 8. R. Crenshaw, of Craw ford ville. I consider it one of, the best Gins 1 have ever seen. 'Two small mutes will gin, with a great deal of ease, t hree hales per day, and I do not think there is a gin in Georgia that can excel it iff making line cotton. In fact, Mr. Crenshaw has sold a treat many gins in this county and Libert, and 1 think that every man who has purchased is perfectly satisfied. All of Ids gins which have been sold in this county, and they are not a lew, j run light, pick fast, and what is better than all, I when the cotton is carried to market it sells for.tPe i very highest price. C. S. .Merriwkthkr. Crawfordville, May 1, 1847. Mr. JD Ha inmack —i certify that 1 bought of * S. ii. This is to certify that I purchased one of Mr. S. j R. Crenshaw’s improved anti friction Cotton Gifts j last year, and find it to be superior to any Gin I j have ever used. 1 think it superior to the Carver Gins.
