[ From U'ilhnerSy Smith's European Times,June 18,] Li'/crpool Cotton Market. REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING 'JUNK i]. We close this week with very little, if any change in prices from Friday of last week; per haps in some instances, they might be placed a point higher. During the early part of the week onr market assumed a dull and drooping appear ance; Cotton was offered freely, and the buyer, having plenty of choice, made his purchases at somewhat lower rates. The business in Manches ter on 1 uesday not being very encouraging, the day following passed quietly, the sales being very small. Thursday an active and spirited demand sprung up. the day's sales amounting to I*ooo bales, MMH* of which were taken for export and on specu lation. A good demand has*commenced again this morn ing. This has had the due effect on our market, prices becoming tinn. and though not able to quote any distinct advance from last Fridays, yet those rates in all descriptions are firmly supported. 4500 American, 1000 Surat, 300 Egyptian, and 50 Per nams have been taken on speculation, and 111.50 American, 80 Pc mam, .‘>s Macelns, and 3t.KJ Madras for export. The sales for the week amount to 27,- 130 bales. [Geo. Holt Sp Co. Report fok*thf. week ending June 18. T»v the Boston steamer, whose accounts we receiv ed last Monday morning, we have later dales from America, now showing the deficiency in the crop as 218,000 bales less than same period last year. All opinions as the extent of the present crop seem now fairly settled, none allowing it as over 1850,000 bales, and many speak of a less figure. In other respects we have nothing now. These accounts have had a slightly hardening effects on our market, not. causing any excitement, but raising a general feel ing in favor of the article. The trade have been the chief operators during the week, making their purchases freely, and aidid by orders for export, onr market has been very linn, and we must raise qur quotations on all qualities of American |d per lh.; other sorts an before. 4000 American and 1000 Surats have been taken on Speculation, and 3200 American, 200 Surats, and KM) Remain for Export. Sales to day. 5000 hales. Sales for the week, 30.- 400 bales.— Geo. Holt Jj- Co. M ACON. July fi.— Cotton. —We have no sale to report since oar last. VI <• quote extremes 10 a-II cents. Stock on hand, Ist July, 4,775 bales. Flour brings readily $3 per cwt. Com 55 t 0.58 cents per bushel. - Bicoil, bog round, 8 a B .y. Hums 10 a 10.1. NEW ORLEANS July 3.— Cotton. —Arrived since the 29th ultimo, 1003 bales. Cleared in the same time 72b9 bales —making a reduction in stock of 5( 6fi bales, and leaving on hand, inclusive of all onshisboard not cleared on the 2d instant, a stock of 137,011 bales. The excessively dull and unsettled posrtion of the Cotton market at the date of our last report rendered it necessary for ns to omit onr usual table of quotations*, and although we noticed some few sales at a slight advance, yet we took occasion to remark that, what with the absence of foreign orders by the steamer, the heavy stock, and the advanced period of the season, the market seemed tending back to the position which it held before receipt of the news. The backward tendency of the market was made distinctly manifest on Wednesday, when holdern were compelled to tecede from their claims ot an advance, and some few buyers came forward and look about 4000 bales. On I’uesdav the demand was more general, though without any amendment in prices, and sales to the exent of fully SUOO bales were effected. Yesterday, also, there was a good enquiry, and some 1500 bales changed bands, mak ing a total for the three days of of 14,850 bales, the great bulk of which has been taken for England, thought buyers for France, the Continent and the North have taken some few parcels. Besides these sales the market has been further relieved of some 8000 hales by shipments. As re gard- prices of Louisiana' and Mississippi thev are nearly hack to the position which thev held prior to receipt of the Cambria’s advices, as will be seen on reference to onr quotations, while for Alabamas and Tennessee they arc fully a £ of a cent lower, these descriptions being almost whollv neglected, and embracing the greater portion of the stock.— N\ e would remark also that onr figures for Louisi ana-and Mississippi are almost wholly nominal for all grades above Middling Fair, the demand being confined almost entirely to the qualities below.— The total sales of the w eek sum up 15.850 bales. JONES, j Aum rs * June 24 227 NOTICE TO COTTON PLANTERS IN\ ILL say to the cotton planters of Georgia and South Carolina, 1 have taken the shop formerly occupied by S. R. Crenshaw, for the purpose of manufacturing COTTON GINS, and would also inform them that I have engaged Mr. Crenshaw, who wid superintend the manufacturing of them.— My gins shall be made of the best materials, and I can say with propriety they are the cheapest gins sold in the Southern States, taking the workman ship in Consideration, I will warrant my gins no make cotton equal to any made on any other "-ins in the Southern Stales, giving the true ‘staple of the cotton and making it perfectly free of knap and clear of moats. My gins will be’ delivered at the purchaser's residence free of charge and w arrant ed to give ample satisfaction. All orders addressed to the subscriber will meet with prompt attention; repairing done in good style and at short notice. All old gins of 10 inch saw’s I. will repair and put them on improved principles, and also warrant them to make as good cotton ns any of the improved gins, and at a much less cost than a new gin. J. D. HAMMACK. Craw-fordville, Ga., May 4. I will say to the planters who may ;favor Mi*. Hamm nek with their patronage I will exert all the ability I have in superintending the shop; and every gin sent from the shop shall be in complete order, and warranted to be the cheapest gins ever offered to the public; and from my long experience in the business, I know the gins cannot be surpassed, al though agents from other shops have resorted to tlie contemptible practice of slandering me and saying my gins have prostrated me, though it is not true. In full confirmation of what I say, I offer a few certificates from gentlemen who have used mv gins, and could furnish many more of this kind, if required. 8. R. CRENSHAW. Drar Sir: I have used the Gin bought of vou f r two years, and I very cheerfully recommend it to the Cotton planters of Oglethorpe and other coun ties of Georgia. It turns oft' sulficiently fast to make good Cotton—it being 50 saws—will throw out about 800 lbs. of lint a day. The quality of tl e Cotton has, in Augusta, ranged half cent higher at each of my sales than other sales of those' days, and it has been pronounced by those considered competent to judge, as in no w-ay inferior to the Cava Gin. l ours, very respectfully F. MERIAVETIIER. April 24th, 1847. Oglethorpe Co., April 22,1847. I have used for the last three vears a machine that was made by 8. K. Crenshaw, of Crawfortl ville. I consider it one of the best Gins I have ever seen. Two small mules will gin, w ith a great deal of ease, three bales per day, and I do not think there is a gin in Georgia that can excel it in making fine cotton. In fact, Mr. Crenshaw has sold a great many gins in this county and Elbert, and I think that every man who has' purchased is perfectly satisfied. All of his gins which have been sold in this county, and they are not a few run light pick fast, and w-hat is better than all, when the cot ton is carried to market it sells for the very highest price C. S. MERIWETHER. Cra weordVili.e,. May 4, 1847.’ „ i: D certify that I bought of f renshawlast year, a forty-five saw anti friction C otton Gin, which performs well and makes as good cotton as the Carver Gin. in my opinion P. G. RHOME. 1 Ins is to certify that I purchased one of Mr. 8. R. Crenshaw s improved anti-friction Cotton Gins last year, and find it to be superior to anv Gin I have ever used. I think it superior to the Carver Gins. It makes superior cotton, giving the true staple of the article, and gins 900 lbs. of clean cot ton per day, and runs very light. C. R. ZACHERY.
